Orbx Releases FTX: NA KCMW Cushman Meadows

Posted: Thursday, April 28, 2011 - 0:48
This is an Orbx FTX airport, and as such a copy of Orbx FTX NA BLUE Pacific Northwest must be installed prior to use. Orbx is proud to announce the release of Bill Womack's latest work of art Cushman Meadows. There are few places on Earth more breathtaking than the Olympic Peninsula, the finger of land that separates Washington's Puget Sound from the Pacific. It's home to the towering Olympic mountain range, some of the planet's only temperate rain forests, and vast swaths of wilderness. Though a short flight from the heavily populated Seattle area, nature still reigns supreme here -- and what better way to see it than by air?

The tiny Cushman Meadows Airport is a perfect gateway to the wild wonders of the region. Situated on the shores of Lake Cushman, KCMW offers not only a paved runway for wheels, but a safe harbor for float pilots as well. Come in for a landing, tie up at the docks, or park your ride under one of the rustic covered shelters. Down by the lakeside, there's a lodge with A-frame cabins for the overnighters, and the airport sports a clubhouse diner with one of the best hundred-dollar burgers this side of the Rockies. Come pay them a visit -- it's not fancy, but they guarantee you'll feel right at home.

Flight Environment X from Flight 1

Posted: Wednesday, April 20, 2011 - 1:16
Staff reviewer Harold Zimmer plays creator within his Flight Sim with Flight 1's Flight Environment X. "FEX uses a new technology called Xenvision to render clouds, sky themes, and water themes in a way that you have to see to believe. “Super High Definition” is utilized, giving you the option to use 4096 X 4096 texture resolution sets."

"Not only does FEX add an amazing amount of realism, as well as surrealistic environmental settings, but it's simply pure enjoyment when looking out that virtual windscreen. I like to call it the ultimate “Environmental Eye Candy”! It is also worth the price as you get the tools to create your own personal and unique environments."

    KSFO from FlightBeam

    Posted: Saturday, April 16, 2011 - 17:39
Staff reviewer Aidan Sandri revisits a popular west coast airport with FlightBeam's San Francisco International Airport. "San Francisco Intl is the 2nd busiest airport in California, Los Angeles Intl being the busiest, and in 2009 it was the 10th busiest in the United States. The airport is a major hub for Continental/United and Virgin America."

"San Francisco International Airport was FlightBeam's first airport released. I can clearly say this airport does not hold back any previous versions of KFSO already available on the market, but instead places more competition to the other two main developers who produce scenery for North America."

"Well done to FlightBeam, and I cannot wait to see what you guys do to KPHX - Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona."
