[Responses 6 to 10] Commercial Level Simulations Airbus A300-600R by Brian Fletcher on 20 Dec 2005
Staff reviewer Brian Fletcher looks at Commercial Level Simulations Airbus A300-600R. Glass cockpit designs, supercritical airfoil sections, winglets, and center of gravity control features can all trace their roots back to the Airbus A300. Brian remarks, "Amazing, excellent, outstanding. All of these words can be used to describe the fine attention to detail of the Airbus A300-600R model. The configuration of the flight deck is very comfortable and easy to navigate. All of the primary instrumentation is centered directly in front of the pilot, and the throttle controls can be accessed by a slight turn to the pilot’s right." About its flight characteristics, Brian notes, "As you would probably expect, this aircraft is not going to do barrel roles and break the sound barrier. On the other hand, it is not exactly sluggish either. The aircraft will cruise steadily at 350 nm/h, and can reach speeds of almost 400 nm/h before becoming unstable." "Every detail of the aircraft has been designed with the utmost precision, and has been researched in depth to recreate the actual A300-600R to perfection", is how Brian wraps up this impression of this A300. Wow. Wow wow wow. I read this review in utter amazement. How much did they pay you to get you to describe this obviously sub-par aircraft in such glowing terms? That and what were you smoking when you agreed to take their money and write this?
Come on man, the A300 is not part of aviation history, it's sad airbus 'competition' to the 767.
I'll just take things one at a time, "Speaking of light, with little exception, the Commercial Level Simulations Airbus A300-600R has one of the most realistic and brilliant lighting effects I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing."
Are you kidding? The think lit up looks like something out of FS2000! You spent an entire paragraph on how great the lighting is, yet it's no better (in fact, it looks worse) than many many other FS2004 aircraft.
"Though initially intimidating and complex in appearance, the panel in this aircraft is actually quite user friendly. "
Complex? This thing practically uses default gauges.
"with a simple click of the mouse. "
Just one example of your endless and highly annoying cliches.
"Finally we come to the overhead panel, which contains the toggle switches for the lights, pitot heat, and anti-icing. There are also rotary knobs for engine start-up and shutdown located here."
It has. . . rotary knobs? Dang that's complex, what an airplane! And you can actually turn ON the pitot heat?
"I received takeoff clearance and was on my way into the wild blue yonder." Another - highly annoying - cliche. Stop it.
"It looks like I will get to see how well this bird handles on a steep descent. Though my passengers will surely file a complaint, the aircraft performed well all the way into the traffic pattern. After a couple of hard banks, I can now put my landing abilities to the test."
What the heck is this? This isn't a review.
"So with another successful flight in the books, it’s time to conclude this review, after just one more flight of course."
Stop it stop it stop it.
"After having flown this aircraft for almost 75 hours in a variety of scenarios, I now wonder how I ever enjoyed Flight Simulator without it. " You know, if all you've flown is the default 737, I guess this is a step up! But come on. . .
"But in this case there is absolutely nothing that I can find wrong with this aircraft, or any reason that I can imagine somebody not liking it. " The aircraft is junk, plane and simple. The model is old style, with some 2004 features, the panel is systemless, and the Virtual Cockpit is blocky and the textures are blurry and stretched.
"Every detail of the aircraft has been designed with the utmost precision, and has been researched in depth to recreate the actual A300-600R to perfection." This is wrong, dead wrong. 'To recreate the actual A300-600 to perfection'? The plane HAS NO SYSTEMS. How can it possbily recreate it to perfection? Come on man!
"In conclusion, I believe that this aircraft could be the best $22.75 that you ever spend for an add-on." I feel nothing but pitty for those who would be tempted to spend money on this plane. If you're going to buy an Airbus 300 series, buy the A310 from SSW.
"I give this product two thumbs up." One final, and terrifying cliche, this is too much. . .
"it would probably be all of the hard drive space I saved by getting rid of all my other wide bodies. " You actually had other widebodys installed before you used this plane? What ones? Most freeware is better than this plane, and all other payware widebodys (Abacus excepted) are better than this.
Well I hope the money was worth it, but can you live with the guilt of making your readers vomit after reading your review? [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

Terrible, unprofessional and biased review.
It damages the entire Review section of Avsim. [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

The CLS A300 is reasonably good effort. However, it doesn't compare to the PSS 777. The CLS plane has a higher rating than the complex PSS addon :-O
There seems to be a problem with the review rating system. The ratings are all over the place!
What next? P#rfect Fl*ght sometimes release quasi default planes, and they will probably get 5 stars!!! hehe :-D [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

The most terrible review i ever seen on Avsim so far. My own review would be:
"What ever you do, DONT BY THIS CRAP, get HNAC's Airbus A300 together with Simon Topmans panel version 3.1 and you get a better package for sure, and it's even a freeware. Save your money."
I second with Dirk98 - "Terrible, unprofessional and biased review. It damages the entire Review section of Avsim." [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

Quote.. The aircraft will cruise steadily at 350 nm/h, and can reach speeds of almost 400 nm/h before becoming unstable.
Do you mean Knots? In any event I guess you mean indicated airspeed not true airspeed. FWIW , it's usual to refer to jet cruise speed in terms of Mach Numbers. The language of the review reveals the problem.
Lately I've seen too many reviews on this and other sites that are written by folk without real world aviation experience who are blinded by eye candy or , in the case of other sites , have a commercial angle to promote.
I rate most commercial aircraft add-ons this year at 3 stars or less with glorious exceptions being many of the Flight 1 and Real Air products ( and the C130 from Capt Sim )
Please folks lets get critical and concentrate on getting flight dynamics and systems simulated correctly before heaping praise on the pretty things.
