I just want to make a remark about the mesh review.
I haven't downloaded the mesh myself, but from the screenshots I suspect the resolution is far from 3.5 m. The reason is that it is probably based on GTOPO30 data which has a resolution of about 700 m. While oversampling might smoothen the elevations a bit it can't add new data which isn't in the original data. Thus the increase is not as good, as if you would base your mesh on better data than GTOPO30 data.
I'm just making this comment, because I personally consider this sampling rate to be insane. It adds a lot of data points without increaing detail (and unneccesarily slowing down performance). A sampling rate of 300 or 150 m would be much more sensible.
