Bear -
Your reviews over the past year have been very useful and I wait for each one. To have someone thoughtfully wade through all the uploads saves me time in selecting add-ons. Sure there will be stuff I select to download that does not make it into your column. But these are not mainstream materials. I also like the positive nature of the rewiews - no negative reviews or telling folks to avoid some downloads.
Many thanks.

Hi Steve! Just a big thank you for all the interesting and helpful reviews that you do. Look forward to each and every one. You do a great job on both the reviews and the screenshots. Keep up the good work.....it adds a lot to simmers' enjoyment. Thanks again. Don [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

Maybe a mention of some of the best add-ons for Flight Unlimited 3 would be useful. [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

I do own copies of Flights Unlimited (I, II, and III), but like my other sims that I have (all versions of FLY, Propilot, and nearly all of the combat sims) none of them are currently on either of my flight sim computers (I have FS2000 on one system and FS2002 on the other).
With all due respect to those that use the other sims, I simply do not have the disc space nor the time for anything other than Flight Simulator (FS2K or FS2K2). In addition our (AVSIM's) last survey showed that more than 80% of our readers use one version of Flight Simulator or another, so I feel that I need to restrict my mini-reviews or file spot-lights to just FS2000 or FS2002 at this time. Besides, in most cases, those that are still using FLY or FU3 most likely check the library on a regular basis anyways, so they don't need my assistance at pointing out a uploaded file. There are so many files (on a daily basis) that are loaded for Flight Simulator, it becomes somewhat difficult for our readers to be aware of them all, particularily those from the new or unknown developer! Whereas with the other sims, the number is so low (uploaded files) that it's not a real problem for a user of the sim in question to check out any or all of the files that have been uploaded (particularily with FU3).
Sorry, but that policy isn't likely to change anytime soon either, specifically with FU3, as that sim is no longer available and as the number of users dwindles away, going to the trouble of testing a uploaded file becomes more trouble than it's worth. Nothing personal, just stating the real-world of it!

Thanks for pointing out the Bobcat series. Sport Aviation, EAA's monthly membership magazine had one on its cover a couple of issue's ago, been wanting to fly one ever since. Also been looking for a C-17 because read a review in another flying magazine on it and have wanted to fly one. Oh, and the 707 panel, found a Ward Air 707 that needed a panel. Seems every time your reviews come out, you have all the wonderfull planes, I'm itching to fly contained within. If you did not take the time to review them, I would probably miss them, since the daily stream of add-ons that come in for FS, certainly would barry them!
Thanks Bear,
Steve [Return to AVSIM Front Page]
