Hey "Bear", thanks for the thumbs up but the Delta shot is of the MD80 we released before the DC9. Both the MD80 and DC9 got the Delta scheme, but were completly different, not only model wise but there were differences on the paint as well. Just wanted to let you know.

Mike,
You are of course correct (you designed it so I suppose you would know) as I apparently mis-indentified my screenshots from the batch containing shots of both your MD-80 and DC-9 (in Delta colors). Fortunately, I got the TWA and Northwest liveries correct (in my screenshots). Doesn't really matter though, because the quality of your DC-9s and MD-80s are very high so all that I said about them in my mini-review is accurate.

Now how did I miss the Almaty scenery?
I don't fly FS in the (former by now) USSR much, but I might make an exception for the one airport in the world where I almost lost my life for real.
The year: 1989 The aircraft: Aeroflot Tu-154
Major fuelleak forced an emergency landing at the airport. On deplaning we had to walk through a pool of jetfuel about an inch deep to reach the terminal, when one of the passengers started lighting a cigarette. Only quick action by others prevented a lit match being thrown into the pool of Jet A (it was warm, so quite some fuel vapors) we were standing in. [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]

Excellent choice with the Almaty scenery! I have been there many times myself and can vouch for the scenery's accuracy. In fact, in my opinion, it's one of the most accurate freeware airports available. Coupled with the scenery in the area (They're called the Tien Shan mountains locally) it makes for a great FS experience. [Respond to this Article] [Return to Articles List]
