Response from G Morris on 19 Mar 2004 Quote: "I guess the one problem that stems of producing Airbus products for Flight Simulator is that once you have created one type, then there’s not much room left for creativity with the other types." 2. Response from R. Parker on 19 Mar 2004 I would not give the PSS Airbus series for FS2004 a four-star rating. There are still too many problems. The turns are too sharp and flown in two distinct turns -- not realistic. At 10,000 feet, they pitch down sharply to gather speed. There are problems with descending -- the vertical waypoints are seldom hit. It took a non-PSS person (Bob Scott) to develop an .air file that prevented nose-wheel landings and other corrections. On most ILS approaches, the aircraft is about one-half dot below the gs -- in the FS2002 model, the approach was spot on! A minor annoyance is a tendency for the aircraft to porpoise -- just enough that you can watch the scenery rise and fall. The EXPedite switch shown in the manual is actually an ALT hold switch -- it is supposed to be corrected but I am not confident. I own them all, but right now they are not much fun to fly. 3. Response from Robert on 20 Mar 2004 This rating is much too high for this product. I have had the chance to fly both PSS offerings and I must say that I was disappointed. Neither aircraft actually resemble their real world counterpart (odd shaped engines, fuselage, etc). There are numerous flight dynamic problems that are still unaddressed (erratic turns, climb power, landing speeds, etc) not to mention the control surface positions during flight (especially trim) are blown way out of proportion. IMHO, this product only deserves a 2 1/2 at best. Not only that, but it is asinine for PSS to ask the customer to pay for poorly painted liverys on top of an already overpriced abomination. Just to own the package and the liverys that I want, it would have cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 dollars. For that much, I could by something useful, like say, TrackIR2. Plain and simple, this latest travesty from PSS is highly overrated. I just feel sorry for the people who actually bought the thing, thinking it was of a high quality. I mean, when you buy payware, you expect high quality, right? To sum up my thoughts, I think PSS has slipped considerably over the past two years. They have gone from a leader in payware to a 2-bit slap job overnight with their latest offering. Simply put, PSS is no longer worth the money. 4. Response from S Belluteau on 22 Mar 2004 PSS A330/340 is not worth the money even with the latest installers. 5. Response from Victor Deakins on 5 Jul 2004 Hi there! I am now thinkning about getting the PSSA330 for FS2002. U guys review it so lously. Do you think that those problems that you have discussed above have been resolved? If they have not no wonder they are having a sale? Cuz No one wants to buy `em anymore! I juz saw an old copy of the PSS B747-400 from my fren and I am disappointed with it as it wasnt realistic at all! No speed limts with the flaps extended...Hmmm....No pitch limitations when the flaps are extended. I think someone once brought up all these and was kicked out of some forum for bringing all these up....By i guess it is no secret who???? Still nothing was done about this problems. How to sell something payware to people if you dun listen to your customers? Engine "realistic" start ups with no DUCT PRESSURE at all??? Guess that the pilots will have to get down to "spin" start the jumbo`s engines for the 2 crew on the flight deck! Respond to this article: |
