Geoff Butler's Flight Sim Flight School was founded in March 2000 along with Britannic Virtual Airline. It was felt that many people were becoming interested in Microsoft Flight Simulator and needed to learn about making flying as real as they could. There was not much information available then to do this.
This school is to try and bridge that gap, and to give you a rough idea of real world procedures so that you can appreciate what pilots have to learn and skills they have to gain. Hopefully by making this school available to you it may help you in your skills and help you to enjoy flying with Microsoft Flight Simulator that much more. Have you ever wanted to ask a pilot a question and could not find one?. Hopefully this School will answer some of the questions.
I try to keep this very basic and it is a rough guide only. You need proper training for real flying. The course is designed to take you from the briefing room before flight to flying an Airliner in Europe and across the Atlantic. A section on Air Traffic Control is also covered. The next time you go to an airport at least you will have an better idea on how it all comes together, and you will appreciate what is happening around you. Meteorology is very important to pilots so I discuss this as well. Radio Navigation is also discussed plus tips on using Glass cockpit Airliners. I use the Level D B767 as this is one of the best aircraft ever made, closely followed by the PMDG 737 &747 series aircraft. Microsoft default aircraft are fine but these aircraft make it as real as you can get. It is well worth purchasing and learning them.
You may even like to consider joining my Virtual Airline as a Virtual Airline Pilot and learn more and enjoy a good comradeship with other Flight Sim pilots.
Happy Learning and Flying.
