These MSFS98 aircrafts are repaints of Camil Valiquette's Pro
Series 1.11 , BUT... their main advantage is their very precise flight models which
have been designed from the scratch by... me. Since , I am not an
Airbus 340 pilot I still do not know many things about this aircraft , BUT...as soon
as I learn something new about it , I update its flight
model... So if you have any comments about this aircraft or any additional information I
would appreciate your help...
Latest version is version 2.0
which can be downloaded here
IMPORTANT NOTES :
IN FLIGHT:
Well, I tried to make this flight mode as
accurate as possible, but unfortunately many parameters of the air file are still
unknown
So, regarding the flight characteristics of this flight model I have to say
the following
A. Taxiing :
- During taxiing at low speeds , less use of rudder has a greater
turn effect,
- As long as the airspeed increases (take off-landing roll) the
rudder becomes more effective with more extreme movements,
- When you want to turn please try to do it with LITTLE rudder and
at speeds between 5-15 knots. Of course if you use differential braking or thrust you can
steer the A340-313 far more easily
Dont forget that even in real life the
A340-313 has no body steering and as a result it is very difficult to turn !!!
B. Take-off :
C. Cruise :
- Cruise speed is 0.82M at FL300-450
- The range of the A340-313 is 7150nm at 35,000ft - 0.82M
- For M0.82 at FL350 use N1 between 101%-96% (depends on the weight)
and you will have a range of 7150nm
- Preferably use FL400 or FL410 when you want to fly long distances
D. Descend :
E. Landing :
- During maneuvering use speeds between 170-210 knots IAS
- During approach use 15-20 degrees flaps and 170-160 knots
- After Outer Marker reduce to 150 knots and 25 degrees of flaps
(one step before full flaps)
- Use of full flaps is not recommended
gbut you may reduce
speed to 142-147 knots IAS and use full flaps
- The most important thing during landing is to have 57,390 LBS of
fuel or LESS.
F. Autopilot :
- Especially to maintain the right speed (and N1s) it would be wise
to use autothrottle.
- Unfortunately many parameters of the autopilot are not known yet
and as a result it is not very accurate especially with heavy winds
NIGHT FX (PRO SERIES 1.11) :
For lighting tail and cockpit bleu dots: (press
L).
The wings landing lights will automatically
light on from 0 to 250 Knots and light off over 250 knots.
The side fuselage glint from the wing landing
light can be seen with flaps,15° extended to full. A second wing landing light will
appear.
KNOWN PROBLEMS :
- Autopilot is not able to establish full ils
especially in
case of heavy winds
- STALL Speed is 155 knots (clean)
but in FS98 it stalls in
120-130 knots.
And here are my recomendations
regarding panel and sound... all these files can be found at :

Panel
FS98 panel--Airbus A340
Name: a340-r15.zip Size:
2,788,209 Date: 03-01-1999
FS98 panel--Airbus A340 v1.5. This version includes
an "Avionics Switch" to turn "on" or "off" the electronic
instruments on the panel for greater realism. It also includes "Moving Trim
Wheels" and many other new gauges. The package includes a full freeware version and
two optional shareware gauges giving "Moving Map Mode" (this also requires
ND99_10.ZIP). Designed for 1024x768, but will work at 800x600. Fully tested in all 3D and
normal modes. For high resolutions a fast PC is recommended. By Roy Chaffin.
FS98 Navigation Data 99
