Who We Are

Mountain Air started in September of 1998 as a bunch of guys that enjoy flying smaller aircraft on shorter flights, so we became a commuter airline providing feeder service. Because we also particularly enjoy the scenery of the west, we placed our headquarters at Denver International Airport in Denver, Colorado. Due to rapid growth, we opened a hub in Salt Lake City in November 1998, then in Portland in January 1999 , and our newest hub in Ontario, California opened in February 2000, continuing our commuter theme. Any future hubs will continue to emphasize commuter flights. We will, however, add flights with larger craft between the hubs. The longest current intrahub flight in our schedule takes only about 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Squawkbox?

We strongly encourage all of our pilots to use the Squawkbox program! It provides live, real-time ATC over the internet. To download Squawkbox, simply go to the SquawkBox Home Page.

Light on rules...

We have very few rules. No flight videos need to be turned in, and no mandatory training is required. We just want you to have fun and enjoy your flying! However, should you want some assistance, we will be happy to provide it. Our Chief Pilot is a real-world airline pilot with a great deal of experience in aircraft ranging from single engine planes to his current assignment on a 757. Additional help may be provided online, as all of the Mountain Air staff log on from time to time as controllers on the SATNET system.

A Few Final Words

If you are looking for a small commuter airline with challenging flying conditions, you may have found a home! We welcome you, and hope you enjoy your flying!
