The single-aisled, short to medium range, 156-162 seater twin-jet A320 aircraft is produced by the European aircraft manufacturing consortium, Airbus Industry, which is based in Toulouse, France. Cyprus Airways was one of the five airlines that launched the Airbus Industry A320 program. The A320s are powered by two under wing-mounted V2500 engines designed and manufactured by International Aero Engines, a multinational consortium of companies, (including top aero engine manufacturers Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney) from five nations, Britain, USA, Italy, Germany and Japan. The V2500 engine is in the 25,000 pound thrust bracket and gives the A320 a range of 2,200 nautical miles carrying a full passenger payload. Current improvement to the cabin space of the A320s include extensions to the Business Class section, the installation of audiovisual in-flight entertainment systems and the inclusion of wardrobe space.
