This weekend we decided to take a run at building the framing and support sections for the instrument panels and glare. This shot details the bottom of the glare panel being built. Steve and his friend Ron line up the piece.
Following Ron's advice we decided to go with a 1/2" piece of MDF for the Glare bottom. Ron routered a lip at the leading edge for the Panels to sit in. This works very well and offers increased strength over our previous attempts.
Part of the top image shows Steve drawing out the vertical Panel support areas. This was routered out allowing us to firmly attach the sections that hold the Glare Panels in place. This shot shows the vertical support pieces we added on the sidestick areas.

Here is a shot of Steve who has just finished explaining to me that if I spent more time building and less time updating this site we would be flying.. He's right... no more updates!!! Kidding... Good shot here for getting a feel for the size of this setup. (Steve! Where are my seats!!??)

Here is a close up shot with all our panel parts in place. We also added a sheet under the Pedestal panels for extra support (Not seen in this shot). The Monitor support shelves are visible now. They will eventually have "Fake" pull out shelves in front to hide them.
