Get current weather information through METAR and TAF reports
|
ServInfo can display METAR reports for any airport, country or region. These reports
reflect the actual weather data currently in effect at the VATSIM or IVAO
network. METAR reports can be requested either from the "airports
details" page (showing weather at the selected airport in this page), or
through a separate window which can float minimized on your desktop and be
consulted anytime you wish.
In this window you can request metar reports by ICAO code or group reports
listing together all the stations in a country or region. The weather source might be
VATSIM or IVAO network, or you can get the most current weather obtained from NOAA.
Multiple METAR requests can also be issued at once in the form of LGAV/LGIR/LGTS/LGRP etc.
Additonally you can also request TAF reports (forecasts) for a single airport.
Both METARs and TAFs are decoded in the lower part of the window as you browse through the report lines
displayed on the top part of the window. The Remarks section is not decoded, but a list of abbreviations can be consulted on a
button click, including explanations and example of use for the most common elements found in the Remarks section of (mainly USA) METARs.
METAR and TAF reports lines may iclude icons to indicate weather elements that exceed specific user defined limits (strong winds,
reduced visibility, low ceiling, rain, snow thunderstorm). The METAR lines can also be sorted by the values of these elements, or sent to the printer.
