Little Issue With Rain/snow

Recommended Posts

hello

since i installed ASN (not sure if it's the culprit)  i have no more precipitation with my weather engines (with only ASN running i have zero precipitation, and even if i don't launch ASN and use only Opus i don't get any precipitation anymore). Weather seem to be injected correctly because the runway is wet and the dark clouds are there, but nothing is falling from the sky.

If i set the weather from the 'FSX native weather menu' precipitation do work ok,

I use FSX acceleration with latest FSUIPC (not registered) and i'm lost :P .. for some reason every time i install something in FSX i then spend hours trying to make it work correctly hehe ...

anyone else experienced something similar ? unfortunately i can't read AS official support forum without registering (yeah i'm lazy but will eventually do if i find no other solution  ) and i didn't see find anything about this issue in this forum or in the FAQ.

thanks for reading and would appreciate any hint you may have

after some more head scraping i found what is causing the issue, maybe it will help other guys facing the same situation in the future.

it's my firewall (comodo), if i disable it, the rain starts to fall immediatly (wow really crazy it blocks just the rain and the rest of the program works flawlessly)

i gave all rights to hifi stuff and fsx in my firewall and now everything seems to be working ok with ASN (weird i never had any probs with other addons until now)

oh another note regarding my previous message, rain with opus is working again if disable the loading of the asn as_btstrp.dll in the dll.xml file (ok it's a bit intrusive it seems but i guess i can live with that hehe)

sorry for spam, knew i should not have posted the original message at 1.30am without first spending 10 hours trying to fix it

It's also important to note her that you must open port 19284 in your firewall.  If you fail to open that port, you will NOT get precip updates or radar updates.

As per the manual:

In order for proper radar data communication to take place between ASConnect (server) and ASN (client), you must open the Radar data network port (TCP) on both machines for incoming packets. By default this port is 19284. You can change this port via ASN settings screen (General options category). Failure to open this port will lead to missing detailed radar/clouds/cloud top graphics.

Thank you so much Buddy ! You saved my fs world after fiddling with this many hours ! Never thought it could be the Firewall. After enabling the incoming traffic as well all went fine. This shoud find the way in the AS manual ( or is it there yet ) ?)

Older post, I know. But this was very helpful.

I was having same issue. Checked my firewall settings on my AS16 client and sure enough, there was 2 new blocking settings for AS16.EXE. How they got there? Who knows.

Anyway, thanks very much.
