USGS Scenery Design for MicroFlight by Ed Crawford.
<< Micro Flight----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a Multi-Part Tutorial... It is meant to be a "Simple Easy Way" to design
your own Scenery for use in MicroFlight (Flight Simulator)..
But Not the Only Way...
{ No Greater Feeling than Flying some where you made....}
This Tutorial will show you how to make USGS (type) Scenery..
You do NOT have to know anything about 3D Designing...
----------------------------------- Acknowledgements ---------------------------------------------------
"Ilan Papini" for designing 2 Excellent Simulators ...
{ Micro Flight & Virtual Sailor }
"Ian Hay" and "Kevin Smith" for helping me understand the
"New Way of Doing Scenery" without them I would have never Understood.
"Duane McCullough" for help and allowing me to use his different Models.
"Alan Winters" and "Adam Galazka" for there Colored Stone Textures for
Different Buildings....
------------------------------------ Navigational Aids -----------------------------------------------------
Now to the Final Part of the Tutorial ... This will cover the "navaids.txt" which is
used to Create ADF's VOR's & ILS's on all the Airports you have Created.....
WHAT IT IS NOT: This is by no means meant to teach you how to Fly using them...
there is some great information at this WebSite:
http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/index.htm
http://www.allstar.fiu.edu/aero/ILS.htm (Thanks Kevin)
If you have been following the other parts of this Tutorial, then You have 2 or more
AirPorts.... along with Towers, Hangers, Buildings, Trees etc...

Here is a Picture of the 3 AirPorts I have in the "Albuquerqe" Scenery....

Set a couple (I used 3) WayPoints..... This is going to be the Location of the VOR's
You Could Place them at the Runway....
Goto the Design Mode......
Click on "Export NAV data" it is going to create a file in the Scenery Folder.....

Now we will have to rename it to "navaids.txt"........

You should Notice there are 3 ILS (one for each Runway I had created)
3 VOR where we had set the WayPoints.... and 3 ADF opposite end of
runways from the ILS.....
NOTE: I have started adding to a Comment Line the Name of the Scenery...
I did the same with the "object.txt"...
Besure to Save Your Work... We are going to Edit it Later so just Minimize it Now...

Goto Design Mode ...... Then Reload Objects........
Take a close look at this .... RA00 is an "ADF" & RW00 is an "ILS"
but you will notice that the ILS is away from the Airport.... It is because this Runway
is only 6000 ft. Long... If You tryed to fly ILS you would be way off......
We will have to adjust this so that when you use ILS you are leading onto the
Runway.........
In the Design Mode ... Zoom In ... Place cross arrows here were are going to
move the ILS Point up to here......... Use "Copy Coordinates" (for this)

High Lite the Coordinates for ILS / RW00 and Delete it ...... Now goto Edit Paste...
This will Paste the New Coordinates.....
Besure to "SAVE IT" because we are going to reload it...

I Zoomed Out for this Shot........
------------------------------------------- The End -------------------------------------------------------------
This is the End of the 4 Part Tutorial..... I Hope You have enjoyed it ......
I can not say enought about the help I directly recieved from the following....
Kevin Smith, Ian Hay and Ilan Papini........
Thanks Gang.....
