Well, looking back at the week of April 6-12 we saw another record number of uploaded files, though the majority were once again various repaints of previously uploaded FS2002 aircraft. As far as original FS2002 aircraft and new sceneries, the pickin's were a little slimmer than most weeks, with the most downloaded file of the week being a very excellent Lockheed L-1011 design from Charles Dayhuff l1011.zip, with just over 4,400 downloads so far. As for the other most popular files from April 6-12 filing the slots of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are too close to call, where each are at or about 2,200 downloads each. They are a Gmax designed Alouette Helicopter by Alan Devins & Fabien Prévost gmax_alouette_iii.zip; a 4-part scenery package of Vienna (aavienna2-00part1.zip, aavienna2-00part2.zip, aavienna2-00part3.zip and aavienna2-00part4.zip); and finally another updated Las Vegas Strip scenery add-on from Shigeo Ishii at vegas_2002_vg2.0.zip.
Despite this week's low upload count of original aircraft and-or scenery files for FS2002, I still was able to locate 3 files that may be of interest to many of you, so here they are!
April 6 April 12 (Click on any of these file names for their Library descriptions and to download.)
Using Gmax, Vladimir Zhyhulskiy has been quite busy designing one helicopter after another and his quality of workmanship is quite good! With his latest release, he has designed up a FS2002 modernized version of the Russian universal helicopter, the KA-26/226. To get the shown panel, you will need to refer to the readme file for further details on how and where to download-install the proper panel. After following the directions you will now have a very interesting helo type that appears to fly quite easily and you will also notice the multiple motion doors on opening. This helo has fully animated parts and does have the unusual configuration of dual rotor heads. ...Bear!
Lake Perseverance Fishing Camp and Resort With barely 500 downloads, I fear that many of you may have missed an excellent bush scenery that includes many unique features and that real-world like quality, which is so much a part of the current bush scenery types being uploaded now. Situated on a small lake a short distance from Ketchikan, Alaska is this fishing camp and resort with several rentable cabins, a resturant-bar, and a bait-fishing tackle shop. Accessible by floatplane only, Morton has also provided a lite barber's pole to help on your approach to this rather small lake. There is an indication (in the excellent readme file, giving you a rather interesting view of this scenery package) that the author, Morton Rupp, is over the age of 72, so it just goes to show you that FS design knows no age boundary!
Morton warns you that this scenery package may not be for those of us with a less powerful system, but I noted little drop in fps with my paltry system (soon to be replaced and upgraded) and frankly, I really like this scenery package and the challenge of landing at this small lake. Very nice work Morton and welcome to the arena of bush scenery design! ...Bear!
Saguaro National Park East The Saguaro Cactus is one of the most recognizable plants in the state of Arizona and they have gone so far as to create the Saguaro National Park outside of Tucson. Robert Palmer has put together this small scenery package that includes, Saguaro cactus spread around the area, new airport facilities and airstrip (fictional), park entrance buildings and vister center, camp grounds, helipad, and a general store just outside the park bounderies. Many of the macros used are photoreal and even thought the number of Saguaros is limited, you still get that feeling of Arizona when you fly into this scenery addon. ...Bear!
