Even though the day for the release of FS2004 is quickly approaching, new scenery and aircraft designs are still be released in record numbers for FS2002, and the week of April 13th thru the 19th was no exception. Heading up the week for the most popular downloads were a pair of Aero Commander 560s from Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas and André Folkers at a combined (with or without a virtual cockpit) total of 9,000 downloads (ac560av.zip or ac560a1.zip). The second highest downloaded file was a rather large (20MB) new aircraft design (Extra300L) from the Flight Factory-Simulations group (ffs_extra_300l_install.zip); with the third most popular file going to a remake of the Denver International Airport from Harald Krause (dia2k2v2.zip). Despite the popularity of the aforementioned items, I did find the following 3 files that barely garnered a few hundred downloads each, but might be of interest to many of you: April 13 April 19 (Click on any of these file names for their Library descriptions and to download.)
Using Gmax, Tom Miller has put together a group of files depicting 3 different horsepower variants of the popular 1930s aircraft, the Monocoupe. These are complete packages including: custom sounds, custom 2D panel, dynamic 3D virtual panel-cockpit, animated components, reflective textures, and multiple color scheme choices for each model.
A visible virtual pilot, from spot view, is conspicuously missing, but if flying from inside the aircraft is your normal mode then that shouldn't be a bother to most of us. Overall these are a nice package covering a somewhat obscure general aviation aircraft from history. ...Bear!
Found BushHawk w/Floats Steven Grant and frequent design partner Fred Choate, once again offer up another unique bush aircraft, this time it is a float version of their previously released Found BushHawk. Always designing a well thought out FS bush aircraft design, Steven and Fred typically manage to rack up a high download count, but for some reason many of you bush flying fans apparently missed this one.
Having a custom designed 2D panel, dynamic 3D virtual panel, animated components, and opening doors, this is another FS bush aircraft design that should be quite popular among the majority of you bush pilots out there. This aircraft handles nice on the water and it handles equally as well once you're airborne! Take a look if having another good bushplane is something that may interest you! ...Bear!
KESW-Easton State Airport For sometime now, Joe Watson has been uploading add-on scenery for Flight Simulator and he continues his work with this design of the real-world Easton State Airport located in the State of Washington. Sitting among the Cascade Mountains about 20 miles from Ranger Creek, Joe has thought to include this airport to run in conjunction with the GeoRender (payware sceneries from Richard Goldstein, LAGO) airfield scenery add-ons.
Joe's work does include LAGO's FSSE and FSSoundScape files, along with Lee Swordy's AFCAD files, but none are required to have this scenery work for you. (All of my screenshots here are without any of the payware files added so that you can see what Joe's scenery looks like without those enhancements.) Joe's version of Easton State is simple, but very realworld looking as you approach, and having a couple of large open-door hangers along with a Easton Logging Company headquarters (dynamic smoke from the headquarter's chimney) this grass airfield is a nice addition to those of you that have LAGO's (Richard Goldstein) GeoRender scenery (Ranger Creek, Diamond Point, Darrington, and Emma Field) or even if you don't. ...Bear!
