  1. I've found the same issue on my monitor.Running X Plane at the monitors native res of 1920x1080 works fine. I needed to lower it for the sake of performance too,I found 1280x1024 was the next one down that "fills" the screen. Weird one really,X Plane is the only piece of software that does this.
  2. Has it got working wipers? I base my purchasing decisions on this one thing hehe :) seriously, has it?
  3. HI,i just recently bought this, using X Plane10. Not spent a great deal of time on it as yet but my first impressions were good. Handles very well, feels quite 'weighty'...fun! I managed a trouble free first landing, but it does offer a good challenge, quite a fast plane compared to what i'm used to :-)I've altered my field of view in the rendering settings as some digits in the 3d cockpit are fuzzy and require you to zoom in a little to read them clearly. It's a habit of mine to hit the pause button to dial the radios,i panic using this plane otherwise.Hehe :-)Framerates are good,i used the standard res version(comes with hi rez too)....i bought a regional jet before this plane that kills my system so it's a relief that i can use this plane.Spoilers deploying automatically is a good feature, one thing i'd like to see is working wipers. :-)
  4. Yes,i get the shadow lines.Running a GTX560 graphics.I try and ignore them. :)
  5. Me too. X Plane has much to offer,i have spent the past few months adjusting settings, buying add on planes and whirly birds and generally having a great time sight seeing...I decided to start on the ATC yesterday and filed a flight plan from Manchester to Liverpool....I was instructed to climb to 5000feet with real world weather on and my plane got torn apart, wings came off,you name it.I have managed a successful flight but with all weather clear...I imagine the atc and such could be a lesson in confusion for newcomers too if you don't tune the radios beforehand to the appropriate frequencies. (which requires looking at the airport info on the local map all the time).....And i found it best not to follow the yellow arrows on taxi too,and just follow the atc instructions. So,with clear weather it's a good experience but things got very nasty for me up at 5000feet with real world weather.:)
  6. I just typed 00000000000 until all the boxes filled up for the license key and it logged me in,kindest regards, dave
  7. I use FSX and had all previous versions too...I try and buy any flightsim available, they all offer a vast array of different experiences.I've had 10 for a while now, also suffered from DVD problems :)The biggest plus points for me are the actual feeling of flying is strengthened my some staggering graphics at times,HDR is my favourite feature,it seems to create a real feeling of flying in a believable atmosphere. :)The same goes for the night lighting.I won't make a big list but i get the impression it was really well thought out in some respects. An example being i recently purchased a helicopter i see quite often in my home town, and flying it at low level in a similar fashion and following the motorways and seeing the shadows from trees, houses and in cockpit is pretty immersive :)The speed at which all this stuff is pushed around does really give you that sense of "speed" too at low level. It's something i think X Plane has always done better than the other titles.I think all the shortcomings have been pointed out,my simple conclusion would be X Plane has the technology there to make things very believable and in the right places it does. All it needs is more content to flesh it out,i really can't see how it could fail. :)Using FSX,there's tons of content to replicate the real world, scenery wise but i prefer the X Plane Experience better. The graphical effects make it look more believable and it gives a better sensation of speed.:)
  8. I seem to get a few anomalies if i mix HDR and Global Shadows,I run with shadows off now and HDR on which seems to have sorted things out for now.....i'm using the 280.26 drivers....Card is a GTX560.Interesting i'm just finding these bugs after upgrading from a GTS250.Global Shadows and the 285.62 drivers gives me psychedelic colours, which i think is known about.
  9. Thanks guys! The drivers i had were giving me trouble on the new card (green cockpit)....I've gone back one set for now......Everything is fine,i am getting better performance now, much smoother. I think expecting the framerates to shoot up was expecting too much...The 250GTS was all over the place,it handled some things very well but.....With the 560 i'm getting more stable framerates, running a higher res.Nvidia's numbering was a bit confusing, but i'm glad i opted for something a bit better after my research,:)Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.
  10. Hello you lot!!!!I've had X Plane10 running on a GTS250,just recently upgraded the graphics card...My question would be,should a reinstall of X Plane be in order or can i get away with deleting preferences and such?Reason i ask,is i've installed the card and it's running a lot slower than my GTS250,from 20fps down to around 12.It's actually not a massive upgrade, but i figured i would benefit from using a 1gig card verses 512MB....The new card is a 560If a reinstall doesn't work,i can only think that X Plane10 enjoys the 250 clock speeds over the 560's (think the 250 is clocked higher)....or the card is broke. i dunno :(Would enjoy any comments on my misery,i will be reporting back with my results after a re-install.
  11. Hi there.I had the exact same problem as you.I had a spare pc to hand with a different dvd drive in it that i tested the discs with....I attempted to copy the offending file off the dvd drive onto the hard drive of the pc i was installing it on. This too failed so i just tried another computer with a different dvd drive in it,copied the same exact file and it worked. This led me to the conclusion that my dvd drive was below par,so i swapped them and it installed perfectly.Hope this might point you in the right direction,i'm not saying it's definately the problem, but it will rule it out.regards,dAVE
  12. Hi there,It is a very nice plane to fly, very fast and stable.I purchased it for version 9 a while back and it works well in version 10.I fly with HDR on,i think i remember spotting that with HDR off there was a slight problem with the undercarriage..it had white wheels and such, like the textures weren't being applied.(sorry, best way i could explain it).....not really tested it with the most recent update,i've been tootling around in the piper collection!!!Hope that helps!:)
  13. I have the new cloud setting ramped up pretty high, running a quad core, GTS250.It seems better to me,set it too low and it just doesn't bother showing you any clouds at lower settingsi always make a point of flying out of KSEA with the updates, seems to be the most taxing place...i think that can throw people off if they go exploring and the framerates shoot up. They do on mine, just had a trip round Minnesota, framerates a constant 30....Round KSEA,i'm getting a nice 18-20FPS....:)The only thing i'm not fond of is the amount the planes get thrown around with real world weather.Editable real world weather would be good,to turn that wind down!!!!
