THE KING HAS COMETH!

Now I would like to share with you some of the really cool sounds James programmed for the simulator. As most of you are familiar, there are limited sounds available in Microsoft Flight Simulator 98. Enter stage door Peter Dowson. Pete has written a program called EpicVXD which works in tandem with the EPIC to allow many more functions to be performed. Trust me, this is a crude definition of this brilliant program. I'll be the first to admit, I have no conceivable idea at this point in the game, what all its capable of doing. But James does!!!! (More beer on the way James....) In addition to the EpicVXD, Pete wrote another program which works with the EpicVXD called ESOUND. This program was written by Pete at James's request because James felt there had to be a way to supplement the basic FS98 sounds. He was right. Any way, here are some of the sounds we were successful in installing.....

1. When the APU switch is pressed, you will hear a distant turbine sound revving up.

2. When the left engine ignite switch is pressed, you will hear the left engine spooling up from the left rear mounted speaker. This spooling up wav file plays for approx. 20 seconds where it is immediately followed by the engine (be1) FS98 wav. Then the right engine spools up heard only from the right rear mounted speaker.

3. When the engines are shutdown, you will hear a spooling down wav file which also plays for approx. 20 seconds.

4. All Ground Proximity Warnings

5. A variety of cabin announcements ex: Good afternoon from the flightdeck ladies and gentlemen. we are currently level at out cruise altitude. You are free to move about the cabin as desired.......

6. Altitude callouts including 80 knots....V1...Rotate.....Positive Climb, gear up....Bankangle....Master caution..... etc.

7. With the addition of a second sound card , all of our ProFlight 98 adventures sounds will be directed to the headsets. All other sounds will come through the main speakers. Again, much more realistic.

Here is a variety of pictures that were taken during James' visit.....
