New 747-8 repaints

Recommended Posts

Mark, Great looking repaints.  Thanks for the uploads.  Will the Eagle be uploaded to avsim?  Any chance of a Lufthansa Cargo?

Thanks again,

Robert

Hi robertp2238

I had not planned uploading the Eagle, as it is a personal design I have applied to all my Boeing airliners (737-8, 767-3, 787-8 and 747-8i) and the A320 for use in my own virtual world.  However, if you are really interested send me a personal message with your email address and I will email it to you.

Regards!

Cheers,  Brian L Robinson

Thx Robert.

Re Lufthansa Cargo, should be possible. I want to provide a couple of -8i updates anyway and I still have a KAL , VIP and Silk Way -8F's still planned.

Let me see what I can do. I might need to buy a new paint brush thiugh!

Cheers

Mark

Also, the 7th aircraft for Lufthansa is due for delivery at the end of the month, so feel free to take 'Yankee India' for a test flight. Both uploaded today!

Hi Dave,

Thx for the compliment.

Yes, you can find D-ABYF and a few more -8 repaints in the Avsim library.

For this specific repaint, you can download it here...

http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxacrp&DLID=175603

In general, all my repaints can be found by going to the main Avsim library page (link below) and just searching on my last name, "Aldridge". There's around 200 of them, mostly 747's of different variants and liveries.

Hi folks,

Well in between becoming a T7 pilot and flying D-ALCC (MD-11F) on a around-the-world routing, I found some time to finish off the Etihad Cargo -8F (N855GT) I started a while ago. B)

So if you're bored with the T7, then take this baby for a test flight...

Uploaded to the library today!

Thx Moe. Much appreciated.

Hello Mark.

Thanks for all your hard work with the repaints of the 747-8i.

I would love to add these to my hanger but, ... I am somewhat limited to do so.

Would you (or someone) be able to give me detailed instructions to be able to add these beauties to my FSX aircrafts?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Hi Dave,

Did you look in the readme file provided within the Zip file? There are instructions located there.

It's quite straightforward. In summary,

1. Unzip the package you downloaded to a temp location on your PC.

2. Navigate to your existing FSX/Simobjects/PMDG 747-400F folder where all the 747 freighter repaints are located. Note there is no specific 747-8F folder for repaints since it works off the basis of the existing 747-400F base files.

3. In the readme file there is a fltsim.x section for your new repaint which you will need to copy and paste within the aircraft.cfg file located in the above folder. You will need to append this fltsim.x section below the existing [fltsim.x] sections of the aircraft.cfg file and then update/increment the number represented by x once pasted. Save the fiel with the same name i.e. aircraft.cfg

4. Once #3 is done, copy the Texture folder and it's file contents included in the unzipped package to the folder FSX/Simobjects/PMDG 747-400F.

In other words, the aircraft.cfg file tells FSX which specific Texture folder to look into so you need to update this file. The Texture folder in the Zip file that you copy across contains all the necessary files to create the new livery.

If you get stuck in the process, just let us know and someone should be able to help you out.

Cheers

Mark

Hi,

And just in case this not enough, I found this article that goes into more detail. Same principles apply even though it talks about another aircraft.
