FSX wont install with my Windows 8 "Error 1722" HELP!

Recommended Posts

I just got a Samsung laptop today, and tried to install FSX with Windows 8 X64 and my addons, but when I try to install FSX at the very end of the install it says "Error 1722" and I tried the "Fix" with the command prompt and that didn't work either. I have also experienced errors 1603 and 1605. but Error 1722 prevents FSX from being installed. can anybody help me? my PC can run FSX no problem, and I don't see why its having these idiotic issues. my pc can run FSX with no problem, but the install wont finish. ive tried two different copies of FSX, Deluxe and regular, both have shown the error 1722. My system specs are: Intel i7-3630QM @ 3.4GHz, ATI Radeon HD 7730m 2GB graphics, 6GB DDR3 ram @1600MHz and 500GB HDD. can someone please help?? Error 1722 says "There is a problem with this windows installer package, a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected, contact your support personnel or package vendor" HELP!

Restore to a point before you tried to install FSX the first time.

Are you logged in with Admin rights?

Use only Deluxe or Gold (Best).

Make a folder C:\FSX. Install to this folder.

Open FSX and run default flight, close. Install Acceleration OR SP1 and SP2.

There is another thread here that has a link to the PMDG procedure.

my account is the only account on the PC, and there isn't really any programs installed since I got this PC yesterday

Simply Googling " Error 1722" found the answer.

^^^ This was the command prompt "Fix" that didn't work.

Google is your friend :)

I googled it several times before I posted here. with no luck.

Did you try the reset fix?

Ensure your account is ADMINISTRATOR.

Dave

yes I tried the Microsoft reset "Fix" and it didn't work. and my account is the admin for my pc

I think MGH had the correct fix and that is the one I assumed you had already tried. If that doesn't work, try my first post to clear corruption due to the multiple installs. Since you have not installed anything on your laptop, It would be easy to Restore the factory image and start over.

I was same situation yesterday.

It looks like Microsoft reset fix(MSKB928080) won't work as long as you log on.

May be you have error messege in command window like "cannot delete token~".

To solve this problem,

1)Activate administrator account on your Windows8 PC.

Right click on lower left corner on screen and open command prompt(Administrator) and type "net user administrator /active:yes".

2)Log you off and log on as Administrator.

3)Download MSKB928080,and unzip.(You may already have this file, but you need download and unzip again.)

4)Open command prompt and excute MSKB928080.exe

(May be you have messege "success" on the end of command line.)

5)Reinstall FSX

6)Log off and log on your account.

Oh! it didn't work!?

Only one thing I can suggest is as follows.

1)When instaling FSX, stop UAC (Set lowest level)

2)Right click on drive C:,choose "property" ,and open "security" tab.

"System" and "Administrator" should have "Full Control" rights, but other user doesn't.

Change access right for "users" to "full control"

I hope this works.

If you just bought new PC and you have not install much apprications yet,

Probablly, Reinstall OS might be best way to solve this problem.

Try Recovery or clean install of Windows8 and activate Administrator account, turn off UAC,then install FSX again.

And if that error happens again, might be some problem in Samsung PC. I hope not...
