FSX suddenly crashing when I minimize

Recommended Posts

Hi.

FSX is suddenly crashing for me when I minimise the program so that I can tinker with other 3rd part programs like Active sky etc.

Anyone got any pointers for me?

I thought about buying a cheap second monitor so that I can do all my messing around with active sky and load managers without having to minimise the sim. From what I remember, Flight Sim has always been temperamental when  you minimise it anyway.

Thanks.

Callum.

FSX doesnt like to be minimized. If you're in window mode, just hit the window key to bring up the menu and you should have access to the taskbar

Would you happen to have this file in your FSX folder?: UIAutomationCore.dll

Yeh, I checked that just before. Unless there is a newer version of the file?

I have got a two monitor setup now but I'm having trouble with getting my second monitor to work independently with the primary monitor. When I start a flight, the secondary monitor goes black.

I want to be able to use my second monitor as a standalone from FSX if that makes sense?

Thanks.

Thats what happens when you run in fullscreen. You have to run in window mode. There is a small app in the library called pseudo fullscreen. It basically makes window mode look like fullscreen without the bars, and you have your second screen to do whatever

Look in the application event log. Are you getting c0000005 errors?

I have fixed it (for now) by deleting my FSX.cfg and letting the game build a new one. It must have been one of the FSX tweaks that had upset it.
