New user - where to go to see P3D at its best?

Recommended Posts

I'm about to try the Developer Edition for one month, to decide whether to switch.

I'll have only limited time, so where should I fly to best appreciate the improvements LM have made to good old FSX?  I don't have any add-on airports or weather programs.

Thanks for any advice.

Bryn

Somewhere with water... And crank up the wind so you can see the waves move

Other than that it's (and some other visual enhancements) it's the same as FSX

Fly anywhere where trees exist to see how nice it looks to not have trees pop up in your face. Fly anywhere where clouds are to see how nice cloud shadows look on terrain, vegetation, buildings, water, etc. Turn on volumetric fog to see how nice that looks too. Turn on cast and receive shadows for many elements (vegetation, buildings, airplane, cockpit, etc.) within the platform to see how lighting and shadowing affect atmospheric realism. Take a long flight along many airports and see how satisfying it is to land in a major airport without being kicked out with an OOM. Play around with the HDR settings to see how you can make sunny days look sunny and winter days look cold. Crank up autogen settings for buildings and or vegetation independently of each other to get more autogen settings more to your liking.

Lastly, enjoy your flights knowing that there is a team in Orlando Florida that is working on this platform to continue to improve it. Hope it works out for you.

I haven't seen any comparisons with FSX lately, especially with the release of V3.  However, here's a good comparison of P3Dv2 and P3Dv3 - http://www.avsim.com/topic/475754-indepth-comparison-between-p3d-v25-and-v3/?p=3304933#entry3304933. If you know anything about FSX, this will show you the improvements.

There is a video I made yesterday to show really how nice it can look. Be gentle. It is only my second attempt.

What is your opinion on the Flysimware Lear?

I own the C441 and MU2 from them and really enjoy those.  Still on the fence with Learjet.

Just have a look here. My own pictures (sorry, it's german) from Prepar3D v3. I can now max out all autogen sliders (as you can see).

No VAS Problem so far with PMDG 737 and AS Airbus.

Which Addons are you using, especially for the ground enrionment in the first screenshot in Seattle?

No, it's just FTX Global in the USA, but with every Autogen Slider to the right.

Addons used:

FTX Global

T2G KSEA

PMDG 737-800 (or 900), can't remember.

In Europa I use:

FTX Global + openLC

Several airports

PMDG 737 series, Aerosoft Airbus.
