Best realtime moving map for P3D to track your plane's position as you fly?

Recommended Posts

Is there an app that will connect with P3D and show where my plane is on a map that I can use? I know there's iOS apps that do this, but I want a Windows app. It should have features where you can change the type of map you want it to display, such as terrain, satellite imagery, hybrid, etc.

Active Sky Next does this perfectly. It will also show you surrounding traffic, weather at all available reporting stations, etc.

Really? I have ASN and I wasn't aware of this. How do you activate the moving map?

There is Avliasoft EFB.  It will not show terrain or satellite imagery but it is a moving map updated as you go plus a multitude of other features.  It is pricey though.

Is Avliasoft EFB working with P3dV3?

Now free. Works perfect with P3D3 locally as well as networked.

Kind regards, Michael

EFASS has a good moving map - u can trial  it.

Not being debugged at moment due to illness of author shows all roads etc can be networked - some people have had trouble with it - I have been fortunate and had none. Works with FSX,P3D,Xplane.

You can only try them and se which one suits you.

I'm looking for something that provides  taxiway situation awareness.  This was a map feature which was very useful with Avliasoft EFB when flying receiving taxi instructions on VATSIM

PlanG

Or you can use any android/iOS moving map on a tablet. Really nice solution.

The idea is:

- you send aircraft position (NMEA frames) through Bluetooth COM port (registered FSUIPC can do it, or I've made an EXE as well for Fsx or P3d)

- On tablet side you run a fake Gps app that read NMEA183 frames from BT port and send them as if they would come from the internal Gps (for example "BluetothGPS" for Android)

The good thing is you don't load your sim computer with the moving map app.

for taxi, flight plan following and much more its Fscommander,

even on ProATC forum there is a guy trying to find how to convert fscommander plans to proatc, cause he prefers fscommander as moving map.

Its a shame cause fscommander is quite old, but still the best for the job. Maybe planG is also good for us, but poorly designed software, yeh cause its free. Pay for ease with Fscommander.

I didn't see it mentioned here, so I thought I'd tell you about a rather incredible freeware program called Plan-G.  Frankly, it should be payware.

Many of our pilots run a moving map overlay on their live streams, and will often switch between Plan-G and the Avilasoft EFB.  I often use Plan-G while at cruise, and switch back to the EFB during other phases of flight.

Having used most of the payware and freeware moving map programs, my humble opinion is the best two are AivlaSoft's EFB

and Plan-G.

If you've never tried Plan-G, I'd strongly recommend you give it a try (again, it's free).  Having used most of the moving map programs available, my opinion is the best two are Avilasoft's EFB and Plan-G.

FSTramp has some excellent features for VATSIM pilots which I wish the AivlaSoft EFB had, but rumor has it the EFB V2 will have many of them.

Hope this is helpful.

Happy flights!

You can even use Flight 1 GTN integration but it's more for VFR, even thought you can use for IFR
