Can we please let MS Flight lie in peace.....?

Recommended Posts

Whenever there is a release (or updated iteration) of an existing Flight SIm there is always a plethora of Trolls who instantly complain and compare the New with the Old - and MS Flight always crops up?

Of course MS Flight was wonderful - in it's era. Of course it should have been developed further - in it's era. Of course we could have had a miraculous, be-all-and-end-all [sic] Flight Sim by now -  had the Aces Team been given the financial backing from Microsoft AND the time scale to take it to a competitive level with LM.

But they didn't. [n.b. Past Tense].

MS Flight was a DNR case, died in labour and was consigned to the Dustbin of Flight Sim History a long time ago.

How I wish that the Mourners would finally take the hint and go home.

So....... We are where we are - in 2016, downloading and installing the P3D V3.3  Client - and yet there are still an inordinate number of Trolls in the Forums who [still] insist on espousing just how 'wonderful' things used to be with MSFlight etc, etc, [yawn]

What a shame that the Mods don't create an 'All Our YesterYears' Forum  for those who like to live in the past?

In the meantime - We currently have the very best of everything in P3D  ....

I don't think that there is any harm in being passionate about a "dead end" flightsim, David. I was a big supporter of Flight Unlimited 3 for many years, long after Looking Glass Studios were consigned to history. There were many aspects of FU3 that were (IMO) superior to the MSFS series, and I stated that many times over the years! I never tried MS Flight, but I get the impression that it wasn't quite the "lame duck" that some people seem to think it was. It seems to me that it's failure was due more to poor management and wasted opportunity than any inherent technical flaws.

I have been a licensed pilot for for almost 40 years, tried every sim there is, and Flight was just about the best for creating the feeling that I was really flying an aircraft. Guess that makes me a Troll.  :fool:

Why opening a Flight topic in the P3D forum ...?

Because it was sooooo good... I sometimes feel like uninstalling everything and get back to where it all re-started for me in 2011 - MS FLIGHT !!!

Please don't, we are discussing Flight in civilized manner here,  we do not need any trolls in here.

I have tried them all, (the pathetic Flight School included) still only using Flight.

I don't get why you think that flying a simulator to ones taste makes them a "troll"

Its completely natural for human beings to become attached to something they love, with us, its Flight. Why should we tag ourselves as "trolls"? I could say the same thing about P3D v.3.3 and all its users, but I dont because I have RESPECT with regards to other fellow simmers' peferences.

As far as I'm concerned, Fligth has the capabiliy to support various FSX aicrafts which can be represented in the Flight engine well or even better than what FSX gave us.

Stephen Heijster (stonelance) has been working on these tools ever since Flight was released in 2012 and its obvious that it has come a long way to allow the community to add more content to the game.

In fact we should be seeing a new aircraft in the hangar pretty soon...

In short, don't assume, until you know the facts.

Hi José,

Its the FSX Beech Baron which was discussed around last December here. It has been converted by FS-Tester in the FSDeveloper forums and is now in its final beta stage.

It should be here in about 2-3 weeks.

Wow!

That's really GREAT News !

Know what... as usual, in my jump between sims, I always ask myself, quite often... "What am I doing here ?" and think that I should rather be where I was in 2011....

Will certainly give that Baron a try!

What an ill-spirited, judgmental post.

To be completely honest, the original post is the closest thing to trolling (and certainly flaming) I've seen on AVSIM in quite a while......

No need for anyone to get upset though....... these are just unqualified, provocative opinions of mine, in line with the OP.
