Approach Question

Recommended Posts

I actually do have a Navigraph subscription and keep it updated every month. When wanting to fly an IAP approach, how do I get RC to stop nagging at me that I am busting my altitude? :Hmmmph:

Also, I do my flight planning with PFPX.

When you're first handed over to Approach you will be instructed to fly a heading and descend. Even if you want to request an IAP you have to acknowledge that command and execute it.

Only then can you request an IAP. RC4 will clear you down to the final approach altitude and will only contact you when around 7 miles out to contact Tower.

Just reporting back to say that I figured out how to fly the IAP approach. I'm descending as instructed by RC to the point where I'm instructed to contact approach and then requesting the IAP. After that I just fly the STAR right down to the runway.

Also, I flew a vectored approach into KMSN again, this time to Runway 18. I was instructed to make my final turn when I was 14 miles out, so the problem I had originally must have been a fluke.

One last question - what airline in RC uses the callsign "Envoy"? I can't seem to find it in the list. Thanks again guys for your expert guidance.

Do you have any ai traffic with that airline or are you using that non-selective pre-recorded chatter? I would not edit the RC airline data file because RC would then call out the tail ID. Also editing that data file can be precarious as it has to be carefully done in the correct format (and only in a text editor). It is best to edit the traffic type .bgl file and eliminate the aircraft.

Actually yes. Some American Eagle ERJ145'S use the callsign Envoy. Don't worry, I won't try to edit anything.

Thanks for the info.
