NASA will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 22, to present new findings on planets that orbit stars other than our sun, known as exoplanets. The event will air live on NASA Television and the agency's website.Details of these findings are embargoed by the journal Nature until 1 p.m.

Well it is neat that they are out there but unless we find a way to overcome the vast distance in a shorter time, we'll never truly know.

Heck, all you gotta do is travel at the speed of light for 31 years, or so, and you're all set.  Easy peasy.  Or make a worm hole.  On the other hand, the natives might have laser blasters.

Given the state of affairs of mankind they'd better start searching for a new home a few light years further down the galaxy.

Well, AT the speed of light you would be everywhere at once so to speak, due to time dilation and length contraction, but would also cost an infinite amount of energy and you would obtain an infinite

amount of mass, so that's out the window as well. Only the people left behind would say the trip took 31 years (or whatever the distance is in light years).

The best we can do is get as close to the speed of light as possible, like the particles in the colliders.
