This is the first flight that I have been able to create using the new FS2002. Having been away for a while, and missing the initial release, it has taken me the last week or so to catch up with all the latest goings on and get the sim loaded up and working correctly on pc. Ok, so what have we got for the first installment? If you're a "low and slow" flyer like myself, you know straight away that if you see the name "Bill Lyons" you're in for a treat. No disappointment this time either. Bill has graced us with a small single engine aircraft called a Canuck 80. In traditional style, Bill has made this plane outstanding in every detail. After downloading you will find a txt file in the aircraft zip with more info about the Canuck 80.
The flight plan was a bit of a stab in the dark. Having not had much time to look around in FS2002, I opened up FSNav and zoomed in on the area. The area is located about 750 miles east of Anchorage. The route that I have taken follows the river from Wrigley to Fort Simpson. If you plan to use a float plane, you will have to slew to the water for take off. Although there is not a great deal in the way of mountains and such like, it shows the significant detail that the lighting and autogen scenery enhances the way we now fly. The way the light reflects off the water, the lapping of the waves on the shore line and the trees scattered around the area really bring things to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this short flight, but be warned, it is almost on the limits of the fuel capacity for the little Canuck 80.
