The WHI Charts and Scenery Division points pilots to various scenery add-ons, which may enhance the flying experience. In most cases, these will be freeware packages, but in a few cases, the depth and realism of shareware or commercial scenery might receive a staff recommendation.

As for charts, the Jeppesen SIMCharts are a great value if you intend to fly heavily in a single area. There are freeware alternatives, but generally they are not of the quality seen in the Jeppesen product. One website we do recommend for quality freeware IAPs, DPs and STARs, and also Airway Low-altitude and High-altitude charts world-wide is Clearance Unlimited. This database is continuously growing; for example, Airways and other charts are available for Alaska, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico; and also Airways for the Atlantic and Oceanic Regions. All charts are in the Abobe Acrobat format.

Charts available from other sources for direct download are so noted in their respective scenery tables; you should check Clearance Unlimited for any location or area of interest as those often are of higher quality (or may be more current).
