What is Weather Hunters International?

Weather Hunters International (WHI) is a Virtual Airline, which specializes in airborne weather reconnaissance for a host of nations across the globe. From Super Typhoons to blizzard analysis and ozone holes, WHI has taken over the weather reconnaissance functions previously handled by cash-strapped government organizations. In many cases, this involved the use of outdated technology, if such reconnaissance was available at all. Like the growing number of other virtual airlines plying the telecommunications bandwidth, WHI uses Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, various add-on products and the Internet to operate as close to their real-life counterparts as possible.

WHI has landed virtual contracts dozens of countries across the globe, effective June 1, 2001. The deployment of WHI assets to various Operations Centers will be handled by senior management. By January 2002, all Operations Centers will be manned and ready to launch operations. WHI handles weather reconnaissance needs in return for virtual cash payments, donated aircraft, and/or logistical support. The average monetary savings to countries runs from been 30-100 percent. The social and economic savings from just one early warning could be immense. WHI will push the envelope in direct atmospheric observation by using the latest technology researchers have to offer to study dangerous weather phenomenon. WHI has monetary assets and cash commitments to insure operations and growth well into the next decade. While most associate airborne reconnaissance with tropical weather systems, WHI contracts also provide for Winter Storm missions, Severe Weather Outbreak missions, Flooding and Drought Analysis, along with a handful of other specialty products.

While the mission of WHI has significant humanitarian implications, it must be remembered that it is a business entity that has to answer to employees and paying clients. While this may seem callous to some, WHI has gone out of its way to allow all countries to contract for its coverage. Those countries unable to provide cash compensation can provide logistical support or other assistance to company missions. No country willing to work in good faith with WHI will ever be turned away. Finally, under an agreement with the United Nations, non-client countries threatened by a serious weather event will receive basic emergent warning data from WHI through the UN. In return, WHI is granted unconditional emergency landing and takeoff privileges at all UN nations.
