You'll find what you need for pilot qualification and aircraft type certification here at WHI's Training facility.
The WHI Training Center is responsible for the development of tests and check-ride criteria for the advancement of pilots. This includes the development of platform (aircraft type) related, geographic related for the respective operation centers and their regions, and meteorological questions for tests. Training is essential to the safety and effectiveness of pilots flying into severe weather conditions.
Training will be in modules. There will be Aircraft Checkride Modules for each aircraft, Operations Center Geography Modules for each of the Basins, and then the Meteorology Modules. There will likely be 12 Basic Modules, and these are all you will ever have to pass. But for those wanting more knowledge, there will also be Intermediate Modules, Advanced Modules and even some Expert Modules if we get some cooperation from the experts.
Operation Center Examinations
The open book/open Internet Operation Center Examination consists of 20 multiple-choice questions dealing with the geography of the region and a specific weather knowledge relating to the area. The WHI training staff will provide links to Internet sites containing all information needed for the examination. A score of 70-percent is considered a passing grade. Retesting is allowed once per week. This testing is not punitive but informative. No one should stop consideration of WHI merely because of the testing. A test result of 90-percent or better on the required Operation Center Examinations, along with the required flight hours, eliminates the flight test requirements for that rank.
3.1.7 Rank Aircraft Flight Test
WHI pilots meet this requirement by submitting a flight video of a specified check flight operation. The pilot must receive a rating of 4.0 or better on a scale of zero to five. As noted above, the flight test requirement is waived in the event of a 90-percent or better result on the Operation Center Examinations for the rank. The flight hour requirements must also be met to take advantage of this perk.
Go to [examination page link] and select the examination appropriate for the appropriate area examination and related resources. Submit your completed tests and, where required, your flight test video there.
