	Comcast has become hugely expensive here in the US, so I'm thinking about dropping the cable completely and try 5G Home Internet from T-Mobile. MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 are my primary concerns here, so you have MSFS experience with this service , I would really appreciate your opinion.<br />

	My internet connection has been upgraded from 65Mbps to 500Mbps. However, my internet connection is currently ethernet, and this seems to be limited to 100Mbps. When I test my new connection, it is stating 95Mbps, which is obviously well below where it needs to be. The upload speed has jumped from 15 to 75Mbps (which is the stated upload speed of the new connection), so it is working. In addition, when my dad tested his laptop using the Wifi connection from the router, it recorded 540Mbps.
</p>

<p>
	That being the case, I need a WiFi dongle of some kind to boost me up to the 500Mbps that I should be getting. Can anyone recommend a suitable solution? I was thinking about a USB wifi dongle, but I want to be sure that these are consistent and reliable.

	I have an issue that just cropped up in the last week or two and cannot find a solution.
</p>

<p>
	Using MSFS2020 on Win11 system, with a local network of several other systems to use: another Win11 desktop, Win11 laptop, Win10 desktop and several Android devices. (all Win systems are Home versions).
</p>

<p>
	Starting about two weeks ago certain MSFS addons with networked web-based connections stopped working on any of the network systems.  NOT WORKING includes ActiveSky web client, Fergo CDU client (737 and 777), and Avia Server (iFly CDU).  Normal error is "<em>ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT</em>".  Troubleshooter sometimes finds nothing, sometimes says "<em>resource is online but isn't responding to connection attempts</em>".  The connections do work on the host MSFS system using<strong> localhost</strong>:<em>port#</em>.
</p>

<p>
	Other connections work just as fine as before, including the Fenix remote connections on two android devices, LittleNav Map and Navigraph Simlink on multiple connections.
</p>

<p>
	I have gone through reinstalls, checked all firewall settings on the various systems including my router (eero provided by my ISP), tried switching to ports that I know are open from the good/working connections and tried several different client browsers.
</p>

<p>
	Any input or thoughts appreciated.

<p>
	Greetings.
</p>

<p>
	I purchased motorized TQ from "Cockpit For You". This TQ required internet connection. My modem with integrated router (Arris G36) is in another room and my PC is connected via long cable to the modem. Internet speed is fast. To connect my TQ I bought Linksys SE3005 switch and connected Ethernet cable thru that switch, and then I split two cables to PC and TQ. The TQ GUI shows its own IP address now. I read the router provides a separate IP address for a separate device. So, with this setup the TQ does not work as expected, it reacts with heavy delay. If I connect this TQ directly to the modem, it works as expected. I tried another switch with different cables, same issue. Currently the only way I can make this TQ to work is if connect it directly to the modem. However, if I keep this setup, I need to buy 50+ ft long cable and drag it across the whole how. I don't want to do this. I am wondering, if I add a separate router instead of a switch will make a difference. My network set up is shown in the image below.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for looking.

<p>
	When I built my computer (specs in signature), I added this WiFi USB adapter:
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/adapter/tl-wn725n/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/adapter/tl-wn725n/</a>
</p>

<p>
	My router is 2 m above and 1.5 m to the right of my CPU, supported by a wooden shelf. I didn´t want to clutter my desk with more wires, so I used this solution instead. With P3D and the speeds I had contracted back then, I didn´t care about its performance. However, last month I upgraded my sevice to 100 Mbps (because of MSFS, and because it was not that expensive). After some troubleshooting with my ISP, I was finally able to get the contracted speeds.
</p>

<p>
	The problem is that, while I can get the whole 100 Mbps with either my phone, my tablet or my laptop, I get barely up to 25 Mbps with the desktop. I'm sure my adapter is the problem, but which adapter should I use instead?

<p>
	SpeedTest always shows I have good bandwidth via Wifi to an Xfinity cable modem router, typically around 200-350mbps.  I notice in MSFS times when I have ample CPU/GPU headroom and yet textures can look blurry, other times shockingly razor sharp, and I never know the reasons why.  Because of high measured bandwidth I assume this comes from MS server side not delivering what it needs to, but I don't really know.  I've heard Xfinity throttle back download speeds sometimes during periods of congestion or what have you.  To try to rule this in or out bought a VPN and it made no difference whatsoever so I cancelled the VPN within the trial period.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="color:#c0392b;"><strong>If you were in my situation and went to ethernet did it make an unequivocal difference, or not?</strong></span>  It will be a considerable pain to route cable to my PC.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks
</p>

<p>
	PS:  Mods, please leave this here for at least a few days it started in the correct forum but I am afraid it will go unseen there.  Thanks

	Hi, I have 2 Dell computers standing next to each other. The old (5 yrs) and the new one (1 yr). The latter is usued for flying, the other now supports my navigation.
</p>

<p>
	Both are connected to the same wifi router which is performing ok.
</p>

<p>
	I have searched the internet for solutions but the 'old' pc downlaods files a lot quicker than de newest one. The latter has a download speed of 1.1 MB which is consistent. The other has a much higher download speed.
</p>

<p>
	I have tried the solutions I found but none have helped. Still I think somewhere in the wifi driver there must be a setting that is maximizing the download speed.
</p>

<p>
	I'd be grateful to receive potential solutions.
</p>

<p>

<p>
	Thank you!

<p>
	As ever I'm on an endless quest to optimize things. This week the topic has been download speeds. I tried with a VPN (I'm using F-Secure's Freedome) and that gives you the option of choosing a location which may provide a better ping to the closest MSFS server.
</p>

<p>
	Then I came over this: Cloudflare WARP. It's not a VPN, and it doesn't let you choose your location. Here's a little info on it:
</p>

<p>
	"<strong style="border:0px;color:#333333;font-size:16px;padding:0px;vertical-align:baseline;">Cloudflare — the company that owns WARP — is one of the most trusted DNS hosts in the community.</strong><span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;font-size:16px;"><span> </span>WARP is a VPN add-on for its 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver (a free app that handles your DNS queries to make your connection faster). WARP essentially protects your traffic with encryption, while 1.1.1.1 optimizes your DNS to give you a faster connection."</span>
</p>

<p>
	With the VPN I only got 200-300Mbps on my max 600 fibre connection. With Cloudflare I get this excellent download speeds and latency:
</p>

<p>
	<img class="ipsImage" alt="QwTxBew.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/QwTxBew.jpg" src="https://www.avsim.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>
	So IMO this is worth a try. It's a free app and the installation is dead easy.

<p>
	I am not a very good network guy.  My setup in brief...our house is covered by 2 different routers, as the signal from one starts to fade at the other end of the house.  One is a Comcast router where the cable comes in to our house in the basement, and the other is hardwire connected Lynksys router on nearly the other side of the house on the main floor.  My flight sim room is in the basement, but on the opposite end of the router down there.  This is about 40 feet away through 2 walls.  It gives a weak 2 of 3 bars of signal (i.e., sometimes is just one).  The router on the main floor is about 15 feet away, but through a floor and a wall.  This has a steady 3 of 3 bars of signal.
</p>

<p>
	If I connect to the basement router with weaker signal, I can usually download at 45-55 Mb/s.  The problem with this router is the signal will drop at times.  If I connect to the upstairs router I can download at 1-2 Mb/s.  I just built a new PC, and while setting this up, I did have PC on our main floor...so about 25 feet away, through a cabinet only.  This would download at 120-130 Mb/s.
</p>

<p>
	I am running Wifi through an Asus Z690-E MB with connected antenna.
</p>

<p>
	So I'm confused.  It would seem signal strength shouldn't be an issue since the slower modem reports a stronger signal in Windows.  I would like to use this as the more reliable connection (it doesn't drop due to signal), but it is very slow.  Both are dual band 2.4/5GHz.  They're both set to "combined" bands so they show up as only one newtwork each.  Any suggestions to getting this to work better?
</p>

<p>
	Because of the differences in location, I would suspect signal strength.  But Windows doesn't report any strength issues.  So I feel at a loss.

	Goodday gentlemen,
</p>

<p>
	 I hope i am at the right forum....Complete noob to my problem at hand : i can't seem to get access anymore to my other fav flightsim forum, Sim Outhouse. Yesterday i tried to change something in my SOH profile and must have done something wrong because it didn't work. When i tried to get back in sometime later all i got was a white screen saying "this site is not available". This has been going up until now and i still get this 'not available' message only. This morning i tried it on a friend's computer, entered my user name and password et voila i got in within a second. No problem.
</p>

<p>
	Question : am i right in thinking that something may have been registered wrongly somehow here on my computer which might be the cause of my problem ? Of course i did try restarting my puter but didn't make any difference.
</p>

<p>
	Other than possibly do a W10 restore to an earlier date i have absolutely no clue how to get that SOH forum to accept me again.
</p>

<p>
	Any help would be highly appreciated.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you!

<p>
	Hey Forum,
</p>

<p>
	I am moving into a new house with some friends and only yesterday when building my desk and setting up my PC did I realize all of the outlets in the house consist of a Coax and phone jack. I have no compatible cords since I have always had an ethernet tap.
</p>

<p>
	There is a CAT 5-E cable running from behind the wall, two wires are split off (spliced?) and the other four are connected to the phone jack plug. I have been using CAT 5 and CAT 6 cables into my desktop and since the wire in the wall is a CAT 5-E, is there a way I can get an ethernet outlet and connect all of the wires to it? I know nothing about wiring this is my basic research.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you.

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#353c41;font-size:14px;">
	I have an old Alienware Aurora R4 desktop, running Windows 7 Home. The last couple of months it has been acting oddly during booting up, alternating between locking up at the BIOS splash screen and booting as normal. What happens is that, after having booted up normally, if it restarts/reboots (cold or warm) once it reaches the BIOS splash screen, where you can select F2 or F12 (or the hidden F8) it beeps once then the computer just hangs there. Nothing works: no keys, mouse; no input at all. Pressing the power button immediately kills everything: the machine instantly shuts down and all power off. Pressing and releasing the power button after that, and the computer does nothing at all for about 3-4 seconds, before turning on as normal.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#353c41;font-size:14px;">
	It does this on a regular cycle, alternating between locking up at the BIOS screen and booting up to the desktop. I tried everything to fix it: disabling all services except MS ones using msconfig; unplugging all peripherals, including mouse and keyboard; assuring all software and drivers--including BIOS--were up to date. I finally pinpointed the problem: the wireless USB network adapter.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#353c41;font-size:14px;">
	I've tried two different ones: Netgear and Belkin, and the same thing happens: If either are plugged in (and I've tried four different USB ports with each) the computer goes through the alternating freeze-and-normal boot cycle. If I unplug them, then the computer boots normally. If I have them plugged in, then unplug them before rebooting, the computer boots normal and without the odd 3-4 second pause. I just can't have them plugged in during a boot.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#353c41;font-size:14px;">
	I can't seem to find anything online that addresses this, so I thought I'd try here.

<p>
	So I just got my 1GB ATT high speed internet service, readying myself for MS2020 release <span class="ipsEmoji">😁</span>. However, while the service is enormously better than my previous DSL, I'm still only able to get about 360mbs download speed on most devices. I know for the most part that a 1GB download can only be accomplished with a direct connect. But since that is not an option right now I'm trying to figure out whats the next best thing of the two options I have:
</p>

<p>
	1, Should I get an ATT extender that would be upstairs near my PC and other office devices (Will this increase my speeds or just my range?)
</p>

<p>
	or
</p>

<p>
	2:Should I by a faster, better, more reliable Router/Modem that is compatible with my ATT device  (Model# BGW210-700)?
</p>

<p>
	Just for the record, my Asus Maximus X code wifi device supports up to 875mbs
</p>

<p>
	Thanks

<li>A laptop also with FS Addons (network name: ACER).</li>
<li>A Router (let's call it HH5. IP Address auto-assigned of 192.168.1.245 when connected to FLYING)</li>
<li>An old router (HH3) used when I take my FSX PC to flight sim meetings to connect to the laptop. This IP address (also auto) is 192.168.1.88 when connected to FLYING).</li>
</ul><p>I run WideFS and Electronic Flight Bag at home via HH5 without problem. I use the computer name of FLYING (rather than IP addresses) for a successful handshake.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>When I disconnect HH5 and connect HH3 (all Ethernet) to emulate being on the road a different IP address of 192.168.1.88 is assigned to the FLYING PC.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If I then fire up FSX I cannot get WideFS, Super Traffic Board or EFB to make a successful handshake. They just sit there showing "trying to connect".</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Why? The FSX computer still has the name FLYING. So shouldn't WideFS, STB and EFB be able to succesfully connect? I can see all shared folders so it doesn't seem to be a general network problem.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If I disconnect HH3 and reconnect HH5 everything is fine again.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Are there some network rules that I'm overlooking that prevent two computers talking to my FSX one if the router is changed?</p>

<p>
	If you see this error in a web browser: <span style="font-family:'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><strong>DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG</strong></span>, and cannot access any websites, try this solution. *Tested in Windows 10*

<p>
	1. Click on the Start button, and type "<strong>cmd</strong>" into the search box.

<p>
	<strong>                              netsh winsock reset</strong>
</p>

<p>
	<strong>                              ipconfig /flushdns</strong>
</p>

<p>
	<strong>                              ipconfig /renew</strong>

<p>
	I'm hoping that someone can help me with this, because I am going round in circles. I'm either getting conflicting information from Google searches, or I get articles that I simply don't understand. So here goes. I have a router in the house, with an ethernet cable that runs outside to a separate building where my sim is located, also, it is not possible to get a WiFi connection there. I want to set up a WiFi connection between my Ipad and the computer in the outside building so it allows me to connect the virtual CDU that I want to use via WiFi with the NGX. I am running Win10. I need to add, that the Asus MB does not have any WiFi capability. I did buy a dongle on Amazon, but could not get this to work, regardless of persevering. Am I right in thinking that the dongle was to be used to connect to a wifi router, which I am assuming  is of no help to me. I effectively want to connect my Ipad to the computer that is hard wired to the internet across the garden in the house. I hope I have not confused anyone. Help appreciated fellas. Thanks.

<p>
	There's something I consider a big problem for many years now. I have several devices connected to my Wi-Fi router which work nicely and have fairly good Internet connection speeds, both for up and down.
</p>

<p>
	Amongst these I have 2 computers running Win10, one for my simulator and one for my daily stuff. Issue is: whenever I try to transfer files between these two computers, no matter what direction, the speed is WAY TOO LOW, sometimes it even won't finish the transfer. I could never find a solution for this.
</p>

<p>
	But then I noticed both computers are Bluetooth capable, and they sit both very close to one another, I also became aware there's an option to create a "Bluetooth network" in Win10, so I tried creating this for the sake of file transfers between these two computers. The connection per se apparently is working fine, they show as connected, BUT there is no IPv4 nor IPv6 connectivity. I can see some packages sent, but none received. Trying to transfer a file does not work either.
</p>

<p>
	One could please show me what might be wrong?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks a lot in advance.
