My system is meager by today's standards but performs very well in XP12. System details in signature spoiler.

I finally decided to try MSFS 2024 to see how my system could handle it, as I would really like to try out the Fenix A320. All the YT Fenix videos have captured my attention. I now have the Steam version of MSFS 2024 and so far, my system is stable. However, I expect the Fenix Bus could bring it to its knees, so to speak. I am tempted to go ahead and purchase the Fenix, fingers crossed that it will fly well enough to enjoy.

The one thing I don't like about using MSFS 2024 is that I'll be so very much tempted to purchase a lot of addons. That in itself is a Pandora's Box. Too darn many addons, with more continuously being introduced.

Here's my question: Since I'm extremely satisfied with my XP12 setup, should I realistically expect Fenix A320 to function pretty well, enough to satisfy frequent VA flights?

Thanks in advance to a fledgling MSFS 2024 user.

Beyond ATC (BATC) Live Traffic Released

BATC Live Traffic released in experimental branch - going to try this! https://wiki.beyondatc.net/knowledge-base/live-traffic/

[TEASER] Something very different is coming

Hello Captains,

For the past several months, our team at ACE Solutions has been quietly working on what has become the most ambitious aviation project we've ever undertaken.

Our goal was never to build "just another ATC addon."

From day one, we wanted to create an environment where aviation feels alive.

A place where IFR and VFR traffic coexist naturally, where aircraft can operate simultaneously in complex airspace, where parallel runway operations, go-arounds, realistic taxi routing, controller decision making, CPDLC communication, voice interaction, and text interaction all function as parts of the same ecosystem.

During recent testing, we've successfully conducted complex multi-runway arrival scenarios involving large volumes of traffic while maintaining realistic separation, ground movement, and airport operations.

One area we've focused on extensively is conversational flexibility.

While large language models have opened exciting possibilities for ATC simulation, we believe realism requires more than restricting an AI to a predefined set of responses.

Real-world controllers and pilots don't operate from a script.

Our objective is not to build an AI that simply waits for the "correct phrase."

Our objective is to build an AI that understands aviation.

To support that vision, the project is being developed not only by software engineers and flight simulation enthusiasts, but also with ongoing feedback from active aviation professionals and commercial airline pilots.

Aviation is ultimately about people.

And over the last few weeks, we've had the privilege of speaking with individuals whose voices many long-time aviation enthusiasts would recognize immediately.

That's all we're going to say about that... for now.

We're approaching internal beta testing and, if everything continues according to plan, we'll begin sharing screenshots, videos, demonstrations, and technical deep-dives in the near future.

There is still a lot of work ahead.

But after months of development, testing, redesigning, debugging, arguing, redesigning again, and countless late nights, we finally feel comfortable saying:

This is real and it's coming!

And we're excited to start sharing it with the community very soon.

/Anil

MS Flight Sim 2 (1984) with scenery disk 12 (New York)

Hi all,

Firstly - I apologise if I've got this post in the wrong place. So either they've degraded in the same way, or there it's something else.

Does anyone recall running SubLOGIC scenery disk 12 with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2? I know it can be run with subsequent MSFS versions 3 & 4 using the converts.exe and my disk produces a good .scn file for this purpose. The autopilot was conducting a shallow turn in a short flight earlier today, and the power kicked in because the speed had fallen 5 knots below that on the MCP. However, as the aircraft rolled out to level flight, it started "bouncing" (pitching up and down numerous times). This is a massive immersion killer, and I wish that it could be corrected. The thread is located here (with a Discord server invite):

https://discord.gg/skY3r4NyC

The airports have real world, up to date (based on Navigraph Charts) taxiways, runways, taxi signs, taxi designators, painted lines, gate numbers and airline codes. These airports are designed to work properly with a 3rd party ATC app (BATC, SI, FSHUD, AIG TC, etc.). There was no attempt to revise terminals, hangars or other airport buildings, unless a terminal was modified in the real world airport. All editing was done with MSFS 2024 Developer Mode. The main purpose was to allow AI traffic to traverse the taxiway network without becoming stuck. The secondary purpose was to match the real world airport chart as much as possible. If you notice any errors report the issue on the Discord Server. These airports represent the larger facilities by enplanements, except for the largest in each world region. The reason for not including the largest airports is that there are excellent commercial 3rd party versions available for MSFS 2024.

You may also further modify these airports for your own personal use. However, if you revise them and post a revised version online, just give credit to "JAB-Flightsim".

Anyone still use the map enhancement tool?

Ground textures have been annoyingly blurry and inconsistent, not sure if it’s server related or settings related. I wanted a quick, lightweight way to choose a flight that guarantees a realistic block time between two high-quality, high-fidelity destinations without the guesswork.

I recently lost my job, due to redundancies in the video game industry, and have some spare time on my hands, so I built a free, browser-based utility called the Dynamic Global Flight Dispatcher.

It requires no installation, runs entirely online, and is 100% free.
This is my way to give something back to the flight-sim community that has supported my hobby for the last twenty years.

What it does:
• Automatically matches your aircraft class to generate realistic 40–60 minute flight time fixed-wing flights (or 20-minute helicopter trips).
• The core database is built around high-quality destinations, featuring the full Contrail and ORBX MSFS 2024 catalogues, Asobo hand-crafted airports, and a curated list of freeware sceneries.
• The core database includes 41 high quality aircraft that you can use immediately, including the Citation Sovereign+.
• Generates an airframe-specific job ticket and passenger/cargo manifest that automatically scales to stay safely under MTOW.
• Automatically calculates cruise altitudes, incorporating a global mountain range safety matrix (Alps, Rockies, Andes, etc.) so you don't get dispatched into a granite wall.
• One-Click SimBrief Dispatch: Fixed-wing flights generate a direct link to pre-fill your flight data straight into SimBrief.
• Custom Callsigns are saved and populated automatically into the SimBrief dispatch for use with ATC add-ons like FSHud, BATC and SayIntentions.

Fully Customisable (Bring Your Own Scenery)
Because everyone's scenery library is unique, the database is completely expandable by you. If you have a favourite freeware or payware airport that isn't in the master database yet, you can add it directly via the Settings panel. We are pleased to announce that FSHud - Traffic, a new built-in traffic source for FSHud - Air Traffic Control, is planned for release in the next few days.

FSHud - Traffic will bring both live traffic and scheduled traffic directly into FSHud - Air Traffic Control, without requiring any additional installation. It will work with any installed traffic model package and will provide a more realistic and dynamic traffic environment directly through FSHud - Air Traffic Control.

The live traffic system will provide coverage of approximately 80% of live commercial flights, with traffic data refreshed every minute. This will allow FSHud - Air Traffic Control to use real-world live flights as part of the simulator traffic environment, reflecting aircraft that are actually flying in the real world at that time.

In addition to live traffic, FSHud - Traffic will also include scheduled commercial traffic by airport. This will include most commercial arrivals and departures, synchronized with live traffic to provide realistic airport activity even where live traffic coverage is not available.

FSHud - Traffic will also support traffic based on the selected Flight Simulator time. When this option is used, schedules and a live traffic snapshot matching the selected simulator time will be used, allowing users to fly with traffic that better fits their selected time of day.

The feature will be compatible with MSFS 2024, MSFS 2020, Prepar3D v4, v5, and v6. It will also be possible to combine FSHud - Traffic with other traffic sources, allowing users to use it as the main traffic source or as an additional traffic source together with their existing setup.

Due to intensive cloud usage and live traffic provider costs, FSHud - Traffic will be available as a monthly subscription for 2.90 USD per month, with a free 1-week trial available for every user with an FSHud - Air Traffic Control license, including legacy licenses purchased from distributors such as Flight1 and Aerosoft.

An active internet connection will be required at all times while using FSHud - Traffic.

FSHud - Traffic is expected to be released in the next few days.

Meanwhile, here's an improvement of the default Ramona (KRNM) up north San Diego and beaches of California. It's 10 min flying with a C172 from downtown. With a single runway, the airport is mostly used for general aviation, the California Department of Foresty and United States Forest Service (USFS) jointly operate a fire attack base.

History of the airport and backgroud

In 1943 the U.S. Navy built a small, dusty airstrip at what is now the Ramona Airport. In 1956, the facility was conveyed to San Diego County and the airport has now grown to become the aviation center for community service to San Diego's inland and mountain communities. The Ramona Airport is the third busiest facility in the County’s system.

The Ramona Air Attack Base is located in the CAL FIRE San Diego Unit and was established in 1957 by the then California Division of Forestry, making it the oldest Air Attack Base in the Department’s system. In 1960, the US Forest Service set up and operated from Ramona, separate from CDF, until 1966 when the agencies integrated and Ramona became a jointly operated base. Ramona responds to an average of 450 calls per year. On average, the base pumps 850,000 gallons of retardant a year. Ramona has a possible peak output of 250,000 gallons of retardant each day. The base’s direct protection area encompasses over 1.4 million acres for CAL FIRE, 300,000 for the US Forest Service, and covers all of San Diego County.

Uncomplicated airspace, available services, ideal climate and proximity to North County business and recreation centers make Ramona Airport an ideal destination for work or pleasure. Serving every type of aircraft from home-built experimental to corporate jets, the Ramona Airport is home to a fully staffed air traffic control tower, three full-service Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) (Pacific Exec Aviation, Chuck Hall Aviation and CruiseAir Aviation) an avionics center, an aircraft service center, nine aviation businesses, a full-time airport manager and the world's only helicopter museum with operational helicopters (Classic Rotors).

	Hi Captains,

I wanted to properly introduce our new product "SimPassengers v1.0.1" developed by ACE Solutions and now live for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

I've been a simmer for 20+ years, and all the boomers will feel me because even my company's name comes from "Ace of Aces" game back in the Commodore 64 days.

I was actually looking for some immersion in the cockpit. Because we're all using extremely well developed aircrafts but no one has developed anything for the virtual-souls that we carry. So I decided to create this add-on first for myself but this thing became huge, so I decided to make it a product. The idea was simple "The aircrafts that we fly are already simulated in crazy detail, why not the people inside it to feel alive too?"

This addon's idea actually came from our good-old FSPassengers addon. But with a simple catch. This is not a career-mode grinding app where you are forced to unlock aircraft or fly routes you do not care about. You fly what you want, where you want, with the airline you want. (Just like I do)

SimPassengers adds the cabin and passenger layer around that flight.

	Passengers react.
Cabin crew works.
Announcements happen.
Service starts, progresses, or fails.
Events unfold.
Your decisions affect the outcome.

That is the core of it.

Let me give you some more information about what SimPassengers does.

During the flight, SimPassengers tracks tons of data, including the cabin state like:

 passenger happiness

 passenger stress

 turbulence impact

 weather impact

 in-flight entertainment

 cabin service

 seatbelt compliance

 abnormal g-force discomfort

 event handling

 final checks and arrival flow

(there are more but I'm not gonna tell you now, you have to explore)

Stress does not just magically disappear. If passengers are unsettled by turbulence, they may recover gradually as the flight stabilizes, entertainment becomes available, service continues, or the landing reassures them. So the cabin has a kind of memory. It reacts to the flight instead of just sitting there as background noise. And also you can always check your current status on our website and mobile apps (more on this later)

SimPassengers also has a dynamic PA system.

The announcements are context-aware and processed to sound more like aircraft PA audio instead of clean studio voice. There are pilot and cabin crew announcements for different phases such as boarding, welcome, cruise, service, final checks, arrival, safety, and cabin events.

The goal is not just to play the same soundboard every flight. I wanted the cabin flow to feel less repetitive and more connected to what is actually happening. Just imagine this, if you landed on London, the PA will tell you to try the local "Fish'n chips" or maybe you landed on TNCM, you will hear a PA saying the beauty of the Maho beach for all aviation crazies like us.

	Another topic, Cabin Service.

This is dynamic too, for example, in every flight SimPassengers creates a flight timeline and understands the surrounding conditions like, time of the day, if it is day or night, or if the pax is about to sleep and etc... A short morning hop should not behave like a long overnight sector. Service can start, progress, complete, or remain unfinished depending on how the flight goes.

A smooth touchdown always helps but it does not automatically mean the whole flight was perfect. "Because you have to be robust and perfect" (This is aviation right?)

And let's talk about some events... Because SimPassengers has many.

This addon includes cabin events, but they are not meant to be simple random popups like "Accept, Reject"

They are there to create judgement moments. For example, get your self ready for medical events, or connecting to MedLink via Satcom for a passenger who is having an early labor, or somebody having a heart attack or maybe some dude vaping in the toilet... (It's so hard to stop my self to tell you all the events but I really don't wanna break down the hype)

And some event can branch or chain depending on what happens. While we're planning this product there were only one thing in our mind and that was "Good intentions do not always mean good operational decisions."

And the best part comes now... SimPassengers Telemetry ability. After every flight we generate a report including.

 final score

 pax count

 stress peak

 landing rate

 max bank

 max G

 fuel usage

 safety metrics

 scoring events

 cabin incidents

 flight highlights

 and much and much more

Just be advised, a smooth landing will always matter but the full passenger experience matters too.

You can land beautifully and still lose points if the cabin was not handled well.
You can also recover a rough flight with a calm landing and clean arrival flow.

That is the kind of balance I wanted. As you all know A perfect landing is not always a perfect flight.

	[WARNING NERD DATA STARTS BELOW]

SimPassengers uses a custom made bridge that operates between the simulator and our servers. As you all know FPS is the king when it comes to simulation. So that's why we did some real bare-bone development with this addon. The whole bridge was coded using C, C++ and Rust programming language which helps to run bridge with min memory and super super high level speeds. If you don't believe me, when you install SimPassengers look for "simpassengers-bridge" binary and check the memory usage. Tops at max 12MB but usually runs around 6/7MBs of RAM. This is the art of programming guys.

[WARNING NERD DATA ENDED ABOVE]

Anyways... There are lots to talk about SimPassengers, but there're some final stuff to be talked about before I end this post and wait for your comments and feedbacks.

Yes we support GSX! If you have GSX all the boarding is done in sync with GSX
Yes you need to file a simbrief flight plan for SimPassengers to work
NO for now we don't support GA airplanes and freighters. (but it's on the pipeline, coming real quick)
NO for now we don't support MSFS2020 due to SimConnect and some various technical problems but the team is working super hard to create a MSFS2020 version too

Finally... What is coming next?

Mobile apps are right in testing phase, (iOS and Android and both support tablets too)
Social features around flight logs like (adding photos and videos to your completed flights, following system, like and comments)
Expanded leaderboards
Custom VA and Community reporting (yes we're planning a white label version of SimPassengers for VAs)
and so on... and more on this topic later.

BTW I've created a Developer Preview Video but please don't kick me for this, because I'm not good at art related stuff because I'm a technical guy. You can watch it if you want but a better professional version is coming right up with the mobile apps' release.

If you are interested we're live now and accepting payments at our website and soon in the marketplaces.

https://simpassengers.com

Thanks. And I'm really really waiting for your comments about this.
