I had purchased the S330 a while ago but hadn't installed it. I just got my new system up and running and installed the 330. It shows and I ran the model tool to set up the radio/gp[s compatibility. I shows in the select vehicle list but no airplane in the preview. Any ideas?

It's not a perfect kit, there's no master fuselage or tail included, but I have included a paint layer and some details like updated door decals and I've included the mapping/cataloging/color coding of the tail textures to make repainting them at least manageable. There's probably over 40 hours of work spent in mapping the tail textures alone. It is provided as-is and other than what's already included I can't provide much in the way of support but it's a more manageable start to a repaint than what is given by Carenado by default.

A second hub was soon opened in Charlotte, NC but the airline struggled financially and was merged into Sunbird Airlines in 1983.

In September 1990, Metroflight merged with Chaparral Airlines which also operated American Eagle services at DFW. On April 1, 1991 its parent Metro Airlines filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by Simmons Airlines on May 28, 1993.

Founded in 1956 as Northern Airways, Air North originally provided air-taxi services from their base in Burlington, VT. In 1968 Air North started scheduled services as a replacement for Mohawk Airlines in northern New York and neighboring states with Twin Otters. In 1972, Air North became and Allegheny Commuter carrier but ended the partnership in 1979. Ultimately taking delivery of 5 Short 330s, they operated as an independent commuter airline with connecting hubs in Binghamton and White Plains, NY as well as Burlington, VT while also maintaining several point-to-point routes across New York. In 1984 the airline was purchased by the Brockway Glass Co. and merged with Clinton Aero to form Brockway Air.

Carenado released a pseudo Aer Lingus repaint with their included liveries, but it didn't have any titles or logos and had the wrong registration. Given the texture mapping on the tail I can see why they didn't finish it, but I would have figured that would have made them go back and remap the textures instead of releasing an obviously incomplete repaint.

I've painted two variants for BEH, the first in standard Aer Lingus colors and the second in a rather plain Aer Lingus Commuter scheme. For the Commuter scheme I admittedly went a little lazy, the registration font isn't 100% accurate (I just copied the same from the full color paint) and the shamrock on the tail isn't the right size or in the correct location, as it was slightly smaller and placed a little lower on the tail. Given the insane texture mapping on the tails by just reversing the colors from the full scheme I was able to do the tail in minutes instead of hours and I feel the compromise is acceptable.

So silly me decided I wanted to paint a few 330s and chose MVA for my first one. I figured I would start on the tail as it's not a super complex logo, but given Carenado's history of splitting apart the fin, the rudder, and the trip/servo tabs, it usually takes a bit of trial and error to do the alignment. I was pleasantly surprised that, while split into the normal pieces, the three main parts of each tail are fairly decently aligned and it was easy to match the main parts of the tail logos.

I wasn't expecting. however, that the little bumps on the tail were individually textured. And not just in a matching overlay but separated. They are all lined up in seemingly random order and tucked into various parts of the texture that don't align with their position on the tail. By my count there's 288 separate bumps that are individually textured. Carenado is not known for making user friendly textures but this takes the cake. I have so far spent over 6 hours just trying to texture the tail. My OCD means I will struggle through and finish it, but while I really do like the plane and have a strong desire to paint more, I doubt I will do more than this one. Which is a pity as this, along with the 360, are full of good examples of the heyday of independent regional airlines of the 1970s/1980s in the US with plenty of examples from airlines that either came and went in an instant or which were eventually absorbed into the larger regional carriers we know today.

Here it is after about 6 hours of work spent locating the tail bumps and trying to match the textures. To add to the fun the bumps aren't even scaled the same as the mail tail so I can't simply locate the appropriate section of the mail tail then past onto the bump texture.

Sure wish I could get a refund for this purchase! Definitely not worth the $39.00 I paid for this aircraft. The flight characteristics when coming in for a landing and the use of the flaps are horrible. I'm surprised because the Shrike 500 is such a nice plane to fly unlike this one.

I am able to set the feet in thousands but when I try to set the feet in hundreds I can not do that. I place the cursor on the dial and then use the mouse to either go up or down. It does not help where I place the mouse cursor I can only move the feet in thousands for feet. Just wondering if anyone is having same problem or if I am doing something wrong.

Contrary to the content of the other post on here, I’ve found the 330 to be an excellent value. I enjoy flying it. It flies really well, and it handles like butter on the approach. I’ve already got quite a few hours in it in Alaska and it’s been great. The only thing I’m not happy about is that more doors don’t open, like the primary side door won’t open. I’d also like the option of removing the seating completely so it’s not always a hybrid cargo/passenger configuration, like in their 208, you can change the layout of the seats. I’d also like to see a easy to work with paintkit.

I flew on several real world Short 330s as a kid making commuter flights in the NE US and it replicates the feel of it very well.
