FRs slowly decay and stay that way

Featured Replies

Hi,This is in Regards to the 737 (great package all around - been waiting for something like this for years). On the ramp or on the end of the runway, I start off with great Frame Rates (locked to 25 and mostly staying there). I can get these even at KATL or EGLL (the two places I tested). My system specs are below and basically my machine is state-of-the-art as of May 2003.Frame Rates decay to the single digits usually once I get airborne and make my first turn. They will get better when I get aloft but deteriorate again when I get into an approach. I played around with reducing the CDU framerate target from the PMDG menu, and it helps a bit. But I think there is something about turning that makes the FRs drop and stay dropped. I will test more, but wondered if anyone knows anything about this or has input.JeffSystem Spec:PIV 3.0 GHz (800 FSB - w/ HT)1024 MB of 400Mhz DDR Ram (Corsair RAM)Radeon 9700 (boy do I regret buying this... drivers are problematic)3.5 Catalyst driversSB Audigy MS SW2 FFB stick

Jeff, nice system you have there!Which model variant were you using? The VC with Cabin, VC or 2D Side Views?

This has also happened to me- Only in the two modes with VCs, and only after I look at the VC. If I don't look at the VC, I get a constant 20 FPS, but once I take a look around in the VC, then go back to the cockpit, the frames start falling and go all the way down to 6-7 and stay there. I have temporarily solved this issue by simply not using the VCs, but I would like to figure out how to fix this so that I can use the VC and still have reasonable frames.Other than this issue, this is a truly fantastic package. I think FS2002 has found its 767PIC. Thanks a lot guys, you have a real class act running here.Kindest Regards-Matt SmithPIV 2.53 Ghz512MB SDRAMATI Radeon 9000 ProATI Drivers Version 6.14.1.630720.0 FPS Locked-on in the Non-VC Version

Matt-Is this the version with or without cabin?

It does it with either the VC only or the VC and Cabin- In fact I notice no difference in this issue or frames in general between the two models containing a VC.Regards-

Same here. The FR decay from 16 to about 4 0r 5 after I have visited the VC and it stay that way in the 2-D.ThomasSweden

Hi Marc,Sorry to have not included that in my original post:I selected 2D plus VC.I see now that others are "feeling" this too, so I feel less crazy. Let me give you a BIG THANK YOU for including the option for NO INTERNAL CABIN RENDERING!!! I reviewed and LOVED the Ready For Pushback 747-200, but I thought a marked weakness was the inclusion of that detail (or, more accurately, the ommission of an option to go without the interior). I do love exterior modeling for approach replays and for ramp admiration, but the meat of a "pro-level" add-on must be in the cockpit. So, THANK YOU AGAIN for giving us the option to trim the eye-candy fat.So, it would appear that the VS may be the culprit. I can live without it for now as the 2D cockpits are really well done. Thanks for your interest; hopefully there is relief for this. As you have noted (thank you), I have system to spare in order to run FS2002 with the 737, so I am guessing something else is afoot.Jeff

Bump.

Any solution PMDG??ThomasSweden

Exact same problem here, on a 2.4GHZ med-high end machine...no problem until I switch to the VC and then there is a slow and steady decay in frames..down to 5-6 fps...slide show. I've stopped using the VC until this is fixed. It must have something to do with what loading the VC does to memory....thought it might be the external textures..it's not, it's the VC.

Memory mismanagement perhaps?

I've been looking at the increasing size of the page file(alt-tab out of FS, Ctl-alt-del to bring up task manager, look under performance).Normally in FS, the page file usage is in the 250 Meg range, with this bird and VC, it goes to over 600 Meg on my system..P4-2.4, 512Meg, GF4-4200-128Meg.

Bert

Happens to me to (see the Frame decay post). I would think it to be a memory leak in the VC?
