July 2, 200322 yr Shaun, I am a user of this aircraft just like everyone else and if you have read what he implied you would not be sending him flowers either. What does being *nice* have to do with anything? If you insult me and the whole team then be a man and sleep in the bed you make. My personality is this way, I am not rude for rude's sake and only treat people with respect who give it in return. I don't see you telling that guy to be *nice* like we deserve no respect for working on the aircraft? Is buddy as bad as *sub par* beta testers?? I have been around here long enough to know certain people stir up trouble for the sake of trouble even though there is a answer for their issues. So if you are offended at my responce, hey sorry, but I will not be bashed by anyone who does not know me or the work I have done...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 2, 200322 yr Randy,He paid PMDG $40.00 and has a right to his opinions, I didn't say he was right, I said he was PMDG's customer and doesn't diserve to have their beta testers talking to him like that.Yes I think "sub-par" could have been a bit unfair. It's obvious that a lot of hard work has been put into this product by a lot of people. Personally I think "almost but not quite not long enough" may have been a better choice of words. That said, again, he's a customer. I think that if you're going to call him "buddy" and talk to him like he's an idiot you should at least send him $40.00 first. :)-Shaun
July 2, 200322 yr Well maybe you are right, in that I should choose my words carefully, which I will try to do. What we need in constructive critisism and detalied listing of issues so they can be worked out. All I read in that post is the opposite. I am not the only one who felt that way towards him, maybe the only one with too much ego to hold back. Sorry again [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 2, 200322 yr >I in fact found the whole a/p behaves very strangely. Often I>set an ALT and set a VS and the a/c would climb and then level>at a completely different alt to the one set (all this below>10000 feet.)>What ? Example ?Got an example..but not sure I did it the right way 'till manuals come...Right after TO from EGLL 27L on a DVR5F SID...(EPM at 4000ft, DET at 6000ft, DVR)...Clearance gave me initial climb of 6000ft(set on MCP!)...Roght after TO, tried to engage VNAV about 1500-2000ft...The bird overshooted EPM at 4000ft and 6000ft set on MCP...Autothrottle also disconnected after a strabge high attitude nose up and high V/S..Almost stalled also...Voil Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
July 2, 200322 yr Well said Randy. I am getting sick and tired of some ppl who can't wait a minute. I think they have legit issues, but they are not helping the matter at all! If you have issues, fine, mention them!! But demanding that PMDG release a whatever whatever so that you can read FS2k2 plans(BTW, why in the world would you want to!?), and demand it yesterday(and with an attitude to make me jealous to boot), that is insane, and wrong. Saying us Beta Testers are "sub-par" is wrong. I personally have tested this plane close to 60 hrs since I got it(and it seems like hardly yesterday). Perhaps more. You cannot tell me, any of you, that me or any other tester is sub-par!! You are not helping the product get any better by mouthing off. I think that if you explained your problem/issue/bug in a clear, consise, and non-accusatory manner, you would be better receieved.BTW, Shaun, your screen name looks familiar, do I know you from somewhere, ages ago?EDIT: I toned down the message
July 2, 200322 yr Wow, this is toned down? I'd hate to see the origional. :) Your screen name looks familiar as well.-Shaun
July 2, 200322 yr It is toned down ;-) I think I know you from AIM(back in the day when I used that chat proggie). I could be wrong.
July 2, 200322 yr Also, with this shot of a flight I just made online at VATSIM...KATL-KORD...You can see a problem with the speed tape goin' crazy on PFD.FMC "insuffiscient fuel" mess with great amount of fuel 10 minutes before landing...And the fuel inbalance problem...already noticed I think...Also noticed that the logo light stays on all the time at night...Regards.Fritz Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
July 2, 200322 yr Author Marc,Good morning!I take it that you will also check out the things I listed myself (20 or so)?I can not and will not comment on the beta team skills, but I will say this. Not one complex airliner package has ever been released with nothing to fix. I trust that PMDG will in fact make use of what they read here at the forum and then fix those things that are producing gray hair in the user side. I'm sure that once everything is carefully looked at, and corrected, the release of the 800/900 (with the additional features as well) will be a blast! Of course I too dislike the idea of having to "beta test" (like someone else said) after paying $40, but it seems that the stuff that has been caught by the paying customers is just something that the beta people didn't catch. And that "imperfection" is just life, and we have to live with that. But, what we don't have to live with are the bugs that are present. They can be fixed, and this is what I expect from a package that advertises itself as a true airliner simulation. A 2003 release of a Boeing aircraft can NOT come behind 767PIC that was released ages ago. And that's just the way I see it.regardsTero PPL(A)
July 2, 200322 yr You can count on it Tero![h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]The Next Great one? July 2, 200322 yr Author Randy!I knew that was the case! Me stupid! ;)I will email you as soon as I get home from work, maybe I'll catch you on ICQ at some point ?It's because of beta testers like Randy that I trust that it already IS top notch. And if there are stuff to fix, I'll just sit back and wait. Rome was not built overnight!regardsTero PPL(A)
July 2, 200322 yr Author Well Randy ,THAT I call a fast reply!I hope that the developers or you don't think that I myself (who started the thread LOL) am utterly disappointed at the aircraft. I am not. I just like to list the things I see as maybe questionable, so that the developers can use the info as an aid to fix things.I think that PMDG attitude and support is top notch! Some people are just a bit too harsh on judging, but I guess this goes with the territory :)Terops. gonna fly with the bird again in the evening, and might come here again with another list. Not trying to put down the product, but to make it perfect! PPL(A)
July 2, 200322 yr Commercial Member Fritz,FOr VNAV stuff I cannot answer. For the rest I inform you that you cannot stall with the AP/AT on. Try the following experiment to see how it works : (a) Level at say 5000 (any altitude in FACT). ***AP on and AT in speed mode***(:( Set a silly speed at the MCP, say 100© Watch what the AP will do as soon as you approach the "red-zipper" (stall speed) in the PFD. (d) Have faith !(e) Good huh ? This what the real plane does...Cheers,Vangelis====================================== E. M.
