PMDG 737NG ... My point of view

Featured Replies

While flying an A-321 from Phoenix to Denver I throught I would share my experience on a flight from Denver to Atlanta in the PMDG 737NG. I based my comparison of this aircraft's functionality to what is found in Dramfleets' 737.I must say PMDG has done a superb job despite all the itmes that either fell through Beta or were never discovered until wide disseminationto cistomers. Following the DF737 checklist, I have noticed several items need addressing and have listed them below.*1. No Galley Power Switch*2. Wing Body Overheat Inop*3. AC/DC Meters panel Test Inop*4. Airstairs inop (not a DF item) even when assigning concorde nose*5. CVR inop*6. Leading Edge flaps left out until 800/900*7. No Standby cabin alt and pressurization not complete in panel*8. No Panel light switch*9. Altitude select/hold not accurate*10. No ability to enter coordinates into FMC legs pageOther than these items listed above, I have found my experience on PMDG's 737 to be rewarding. I like the frame rate througful options and flying pegged out on my system is worth it at a rather large hit.I like the autoland feature implemetation and loc capture is crisp. For a minute or two I didn't think the computer would balls on the glide slope but eventually pegged it dead center.I like the model and the approach. Lets get the 800/900 out and complete this thing ASAP to really capture the complete essence of the 737. Good Job PMDG

Hi,Just some advice, you may want to sign your name to your posts, PMDG requests this. About the items you've cited as missing on the overhead, are you sure they're supposed to be there on the NG? I'm no expert but the NG and the -400 aren't exactly the same. As far as entering coordinates on the FMC LEGS page, it can be done. I've entered lat/lon coords in the past so I can help with this. (I'm assuming that you ARE referring to lat/lon coords :)) Ok let's assume we want to go here:N32 28.45 W80 32.09I'm not sure where this is, it's a totally arbatrary point that I've invented. :) At any rate though, here is how you need to give it to the LEGS page:N32285W080321Note that the decimals are rounded to one digit and also I've put a leading zero on the longitude as there is no 1. If you enter it in this format the LEGS page will accept it. If I recall it showed as WPT01 in the LEGS page. The RTE page will not accept a lat/lon like this, however after you put one in on the LEGS page you will see it in the RTE page as well.Just as an interesting aside, I've also tested along track waypoints and those work well also. I'm assuming that all of the user defined waypoint entry methods are modeled, although these two are the only ones I've tested so far. :) Have fun entering LAT/LON waypoints now that you know. :)-Shaun

I wished people would stop comparing two different models abd saying there are issues that need addressing.Firstly you are assuming that the DF model is accurate. Secondly, there are major differences between the -400 series and the NG series. Some of these items you have listed may not have existed in the -400 series. It's like me saying the DF model is inaccurate because it does not have a glass cockpit.Wait until the manual comes out before you start saying things don't work. You will have notice a response advising you how to enter a co-ordinate in the FMC.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

Yeah, I wonder why the beta testers of a certain aircraft did not notice that their FMC is not part of the aircraft? :0 :) ;) Man only if I had the chance to be part of that team, I know I would have noticed at least that hehehehehehehe (This is all in fun guys, you gotta love all the experpts that our beloved sim produces)[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J.
