July 9, 200322 yr Has anyone seen this? Everything drops out when the night lighting on the panel is triggered by time-of-day. Kind of fun when you're flying west and the trigger point goes back and forth intermittently for a while :)I'm sorry if this has been brought up before.I'm still enjoying this bird.Bruce. July 9, 200322 yr Yes, I noticed this too. I don't believe the auto-pilot is turned of but rather that the "lights" in your indicators have a little problem ;-)When I switch to landing view and back again the lights come back on. Just a graphical anomaly that will be fixed in the upcoming patch, wont it???? Marc... it will be fixed , wont it Marc, Marc MARC where are you??? :-xxrotflmaoYohWillem
July 9, 200322 yr Author Thanks Yoh,I also noted that when I landed I had no aeleron or rudder controls from my yoke/rudder pedals (with the a/p switched off). I could pitch the a/c, but no lateral manual control at all. However, I attempted to re-enable the a/p several times as the time-of-day switched intermitently between day and night (travelling west), so I may have confused something here in the logic.Bruce. July 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bruce,Here is a how-to :After a full autoland touchdown, (a) AP off (disengage bar) AND ...(a very important AND)(:( flight director reset (off/on)This is the only way to cancel the APP mode after LOC and GS capture. This is also the reason why the APP light after LOC and GS capture extinguishes. It means that this mode cannot be deselected by clicking on the APP button again. This is how the real aircraft operates. In your case your manual rudder and aileron input were overriden by the autopilot, since you were still in APP mode. Try it !Regards,Vangelis========================================= E. M. July 9, 200322 yr Recycling the FDs will cancel all active modes. One of our beta testers, and real NG pilot told me that when they were flying a non precision approach, they start by recycling the FDs to be absolutely sure that no mode stays engaged (Company procedure).cheersanthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
July 9, 200322 yr Author Thanks Vangelis,I had attempted to cancel the a/p and a/t when approaching final, for a manual landing. When I cancelled the a/p there was no audible alarm, so I assume that somehow I couldn't cancel it (I tried cancelling a few times). However, I did not cycle the F/D. This is all before the touch-down, and followed a rather surprising display as I had passed through the day/night transition point several times (flying west), where after each transition all a/p mode lights went out (and a/t). Thanks for your followup reply.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
