New version of FSUIPC FS 2004 and PATCH

The new version of FSUIPC works with the NG in both fs2002 and FS2004. You do not need the patch to use the NG in FS2004, but you DO need the new version of FSUIPC.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif

Hey Vin,Glad to see you "revived" old Blue:)George Stoddard

After running the 737 in FS2004, I am going to say that yeah - you do need the patch. :) While the sim and panel seem functional, there are problems in that...* Very flickery mouse cursor over switches and hotspots* Silky smooth motion OUTSIDE the airplane front window, but distractingly delayed and stuttering CRT displays on the panel itself. Flap indicator jumps and then slides and jumps again between settings as one example.* Possibly delayed info getting to the panel in spots... on a very low wind day, my airspeed and groundspeed indicators were off by a good 20 knots. Co-pilot was calling off airspeeds based on the IAS.* Switches and controls on panels (overhead in particular) delay in "switching". I flipped the APU from off to start to on to off and through again before I knew any mouseclick had even registered. All that said, it is still technically flyable. I wasn't able to get VNAV to work, but that could have been pilot error. Do any other FS02004 pilots concurr with what I have seen? The issues with 2004 haven't really been detailed or listed anywhere, except to say that PMDG seems to strongly recommend using it WITH the patch and not without. I, for one, and eagerly anticipating it! I'm sure it has all the bugs documented in previous threads, as they seem to be aimed at the specific functions of the panel, not the panel itself. And back on topic, I used both the 3.01 and 3.02 versions of FSUIPC (the original 3.0 and the "new" 3.0) and the above issues were still there, so it's part of the code. I personally wouldn't mind if the patch came out with known possible issues about sinking and whatnot. :) I just wanna fly smooth. Patience. A rare commodity these days. I must endeavour to get some. Take good care,-Greg

Can you tell me how you got it working in FS2004 please. I have bought the new fsuipc and installed it but all i get is a message that says FS9 cannot load PMDG_737NG_Main.gauAny ideas?Richard Wheatley

well..based on the official position of PMDG I went ahead and instaled bouth the "new" FSUIPC and the plane itself. Regarding instalations no problems whatsoever it was already registered within FS2004.Now for the "not so god" part: Yes I've experineced ALL of the things posted by Greg so the patch is defenitly needed to use the plane. But like I had to install the plane anyway before instaling the patch I went ahead and did it. It's oficialy my first addonn instaled in FS2004 ;)Jos

Jose,Glad to see it's not just me. :-) I was worried because I didn't see those problems on the patch list. That said, I do think it would be in PMDG's best interest to remove the "Compatable with FS2004" banners and tags on their website until the service release, as it is quite an interesting experience to fly it in FS9 at this point in time. Richard,I installed the 737 directly into FS2004. I did not install it at all on FS2002 - and as such, I don't know the performance of the panel nor do I have anything to compare it to.Most forum posts recommend reinstalling the package into FS2004 from the master installer, without UNinstalling it from FS2002. If you're really stuck, contact support. I don't want to recommend the creation of transfer keys or whatnot considering how sensitive the licensing protections are on this software. (Protected? Sure! Robust? Not so much.)Sidenote - even though the patch isn't here, kudos to the PMDG team for keeping us posted throughout these few days as to the patch status. It goes a long way to help prevent the gnashing of teeth. -Greg

Actually, I think you're confusing me with a "Greg German" who did all the repaints. I would be a "Greg Germanowski" who has all the artistic talent of a drunk monkee. (It's a common mistake some people have made on this forum and the others)But either way, you simply sped up the inevitable. I was going to end up purchasing it one way or another. At least now I can join in the "encouragement" for the patch as an owner rather than a potential customer. :) Happy joy...-Greg

I've noticed a new version of FSUIPC (diferent from the one at PMDG site) and I wonder if using this new version afects the usablility of the 737 I.E if its necessary to use the one from PMDG site in order for the FSUIPC recognize the acreditated 737. My second question is if right now in it's current state it's possible to install 737 in fs2004 (and of course having the same issues as in fs2002) and then install the patch OR is it needed the patch in order to have 737 fuction at all in fs2004 ?Jos
