Question to those using 737NG with Win98 SE

Recommended Posts

I am experiencing problems with the patched SU 1.0 and SU 1.1 of the 737NG. I have learned that this is not a problem with PMDG's product but rather with Windows 98 Se...My question to those that are successfully using it under this OS (any of you out their?) is how do I enable the option to USE LONG FILENAMES in the windows settings? I have spent a large part of the day trying to resolve this and any help would be greatly appreciated.ThanksFrancois

Windows 98 SE is not very stable with greater then 256 Megs. There are lots of utilities out there that help out by overriding the Windows settings and taking control.Long filename use is governed by how the drive is formatted as it support both FAT (old dos) and VFAT32 (larger then 8 GB partitions). Not really sure that you can convert from FAT to VFAT32 (think that was an option only available during installation with Win98). There are again third party utilities that will do this for you, like Partition Magic if memory serves, or you can just reload your machine, doing a proper Windows 98 SE install.Sorry for the not so good news ...Ray
