Need some help editing the SID for MYNN

Recommended Posts

Here is the text file for the departure, it's an RNAV departure and I'm thinking that might be what is confusing me a bit here. Can anyone lend a hand to clarify the order of progression?--------------------------------------------------------------------// MYNN - Nassau International Airport// Created Sept/01/2003 by Chris de Barros// Derived from Jeppessen Sanderson Approach Plates 10-3/3A/3BFIXESFREDY N25 00.4 W077 25.6JEDIK N25 24.6 W076 51.6FILAB N25 15.9 W077 02.3POLBE N25 00.4 W077 21.1DOBNS N24 39.8 W077 04.5SHOKO N23 46.0 W076 10.3EXIGE N23 38.6 W076 02.9JUTED N24 56.9 W077 29.4HEROM N24 57.0 W077 34.9NICKO N24 59.5 W078 11.0MAJUR N25 20.0 W077 51.9SYDNY N25 33.8 W077 52.9INGRA N25 28.1 W077 13.5ENDFIXESRNWSRNW 14RNW 32ENDRWSSIDSSID RW14.FREDY1.EXIGE RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 143 UNTIL FIX DOBNS 3000 FIX SHOKO 4000 FIX EXIGE 4000SID RW14.FREDY1.NICKO RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 231 UNTIL FIX JUTED 1000 FIX HEROM 4000 FIX NICKO 4000SID RW14.FREDY1.MAJUR RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 231 UNTIL FIX JUTED 1000 FIX HEROM 4000 FIX MAJUR 4000SID RW14.FREDY1.JEDIK RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 096 UNTIL FIX POLBE 2000 FIX FILAB 3000 FIX JEDIK 4000SID RW14.FREDY1.SYDNY RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 231 UNTIL FIX JUTED 2000 FIX HEROM 3000 FIX SYDNY 4000SID RW14.INGRA1.INGRA RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 096 INTERCEPT FIX POLBE 2000 FIX INGRA 4000 ENDSIDSChris de Barros/MYNNBahamasair DHC8-300

I see a couple things right off the bat:1. You don't need to define all those fixes, they're already in the navdata.2. I think there's something wrong with the way you're using phrases like "HDG XXX UNTIL FIX XXXXX" why would you need to define a heading when it's a straight line between the two fixes? Just place them in sequence and the plane will fly direct between them:SID RW14.FREDY1.EXIGE RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 FIX FREDY HDG 143 UNTIL FIX DOBNS 3000 FIX SHOKO 4000 FIX EXIGE 4000should probably look something like:SID RW14.FREDY1.EXIGE RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 NAVAID FREDY NAVAID DOBNS 3000 NAVAID SHOKO 4000 NAVAID EXIGE 4000Ryan

Hi Ryan, You seem to know, so I will shoot a question at you: If I understand the syntax of the SIDs/STARs correctly, the construction HDG 141 UNTIL 416 means that the heading will be 141 until reaching 416 feet and then the "program" will continue. I have, however, on numerous occasions seen SIDs that gives two conditions and state that you have to do what ever is later. Is there any way to model that with the syntax given by PMDG? Of course, right now, off the top of my head, I cannot seem to remember an example of such a SID, With thanks in advance and hoping to make sense :-waveBoaz

Boaz,I'm not sure that it's capable of doing that - even in the real plane I'm almost positive that would be something the pilots would handle manually using the MCP. If you can give me an example of a procedure that has one of these situations I'll send it on to Anthony - procedure syntax is actually what they're working on right now... ;)Ryan

Hi Boaz,Yes, the current syntax supports the hdg UNTIL NB NOTBEFORE NB FROM simplefixentrysuch as KEEP HDG UNTIL 7000 NOT BEFORE 8 FROM NAVAID GVAThis works out of the box.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

Hi Chris! How is it for the time being in Bahamasair?Presuming that all of the fixes are in downloaded navdata, and that altitude constraints that you put are correct then your SID should look like this:SID RW14.FREDY1.EXIGE RNW 14 HDG 141 UNTIL 416 NAVAID FREDY NAVAID DOBNS 3000 NAVAID SHOKO 4000 NAVAID EXIGE 4000Reflect the same on the other SIDs and you should see them displayed correctly. Now what I am looking for are above/below constraints to be implemented ;)Finally we can turn off deice systems here north after a while :)
