November 18, 200322 yr >Could I ask something?>>Theres all this talk about developing a new plane for FS9, but>what about the 737-800/900? As much as I would love to see a>744 for FS9, I would much rather see one project finished>before another one is started!>>Happy FlyingThey're starting on those soon I believe. I don't think they're going to ignore their current project. :)I'm happy with whatever PMDG decide they'll do. :) They have a plethoria of information on the 747-400, so why not use it to model a highly detailed model with panel etc? November 18, 200322 yr The flightsim market is covered in 747's - some excellent freeware aircraft (Project OpenSky etc) and a few nice payware. The aircraft is also old and no-longer "cutting-edge".I really cannot imagine myself sitting at home flying in real-time from London to Los Angeles in a 744. The PMDG737 does not like FS2004 going at anything more than 1x (I found this out to my cost over the North Sea last night..) so how exactly are we supposed to fly the 744? Take a day off work? Send the rest of the family to a hotel for the weekend?! It's a long haul airliner for long haul flights - not for flying circuits at EGLL.If it can't be an Airbus 380 then I'd vote for the 757 any day but looks like the decision has already been made. I won't be purchasing it - too many real-world things to do (drink, eat, sleep, real flying etc)RegardsAdam Moore
November 18, 200322 yr I won't be buying it either.....but given the PMDG track record with the NG, I'm sure that it would be a great product and that they'll have enough customers to keep them happy.Personally I think the 757 would have made more business sense....no competiting developer, can be used on short range, medium range and long range flights, and is still VERY popular among US carriers and a few European carriers. But what do I know......I'm just a Physics teacher.....not much business sense.Again, good luck with your 744 PMDG......and please, can we have SU2 for the NG sometime this century?:-)
November 18, 200322 yr Any aircraft with the features the 737 has is going to be fantastic!, personally I would love to see a 747-400 PMDG standard..I love the idea of a A380 at a later date..when you have enough detailed info etc!
November 18, 200322 yr Come on you guys!!I think that a new B744 is the best decision EVER!!!I would have found the details of the 777 more exciting, but also there has not been any good B744 made yet...To be honest I think that the PMDG's 737NG and The Wilco PIC 767 are panel simulations, the rest have almost been simply look a likes, no behavior or panel complexities to match those two...I remember the Mad Dog by Lago, that was the only airplane that ever gave me the same satisfaction, as these two, but even when I look back at that plane, there really was no FMC and it lacked a whole lot on the over head...PSS makes better and better panels, but to this date none of them have really pleased me, I want top of the line realistic panels, and frankly PSS seem just a bit more focused on the visuals than on the panel software...I think this is an exciting decision!Although it's getting old, it is still the one you always see in larger airports, and the BAW trips to the US are great with the super fast B744...Good decision PMDG, I am looking forward, and maybe just maybe we could see you do the high tech 777...?Also PSS and PMDG are two different categories of panel makers...Boaz...
November 18, 200322 yr Yes!Great! a 747 or a 777!Go on PMDG, because those guys over at PSS are sleeping tight!AC5 Alfredo Croci Pulverstrasse 8 P.O.Box 71 3048 Worblaufen Switzerland Tel. +4131 9219231 [email protected]
November 18, 200322 yr Or go one better and bring out a Boeing 727 with a state-of-the-art analogue cockpit, valve radio technology and authentic autopilot with luxury ILS "will it or won't it" capture device. And don't forget the "fly-by-pushrod" technology..My point being - why go one step back when you have taken so many steps forward with the 737NG in the production of a state-of-the-art flight simulation add-on?!Adam Moore
November 18, 200322 yr "My point being - why go one step back when you have taken so many steps forward with the 737NG in the production of a state-of-the-art flight simulation add-on?!"...well, maybe because there are a lot of people like me who think that the 747 is the sexiest aircraft ever built.;-) CheersThomas
November 18, 200322 yr >...well, maybe because there are a lot of people like me who>think that the 747 is the sexiest aircraft ever built.;-) >Not a chance. 757 ALL the way. When you look at the 757 it has that sports car look. The sloped nose and looking at it from the front the engine diameter is almost as big as the fuselage diameter giving it that overpowered look (which BTW is very overpowered). Gotta love the '57. I will be crying next year when the last one rolls off the lot. Will be saddest day in aviation history. "Sniff, Sniff". I am sorry I have to go now.........Jack

November 18, 200322 yr 757 gets my vote despite the fact it's a bit old in the tooth. Favourite commercial airliner BEFORE I bought the 737NG was the 757-200.It's an aircraft also loved by pilots (one recently described its look from the front in the landing phase like "an eagle lowering its talons ready to strike its prey").CheersAdam Moore747-400 sexy? Bit like the aeronautical equivalent of Ruby Wax if you ask me..
November 18, 200322 yr I don't know if "sexy" is the right word, but it's certainly one of the most awe-inspiring aircraft ever built.I see this thread is degenerating into a "which aircraft is coolest" debate ... maybe we can all let it go since the decision was made before this thread even started. :)
November 18, 200322 yr Yeah,There's several versions of PMDG 737 to enjoy first...and we already know they're cool.Best,Martijn
