November 17, 200322 yr FSHotseat brings your system to it's knees, and you want to watch DVD while flying? :DI'm all for a weather display on ND.
November 17, 200322 yr Proper "dark" panel at night with absolutely no floodlights, just instrumentation - the way real 737 drivers do it at night. I don't think it is a "wild" idea - I would say basic essentials. Michael J. Michael J.
November 17, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hey, as crazy and far fetched as some of these suggestions sound (DVD movies in the seats.. love that one) these types of posts are exactly the type of things that we at PMDG LOVE to see.As many of you may recall, we had a looong thread like this one prior to launching development of the 737NG. Had it not been for user suggestions, many of the things you are now seeing in the NG would never have been built into the airplane.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
November 17, 200322 yr Ahem, how do you know if something *like* that is not already in the works? And FYI, I have more than a *few* real world pictures in flight with the flood panels lights Michael, the way some real 737 drivers do it at night like this one. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/48949.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. November 17, 200322 yr from what i understand the user selectable PFD/NDs will become one more option during the 800/900 or BBJ verision. Like they will implement them then, im not positive but thats what i believe I have heard. color terrain mapping would be awesome too, as well as the visual representation of the Vertical descent---like its at the bottom of the ND and maps the terrain and shows if there is a conflictI for one would love the DVD player makes the long flights go fast--although I doubt thats not possibleWould it work setting the gps to be in the monitor so its kinda like an "airshow" map?? Thakns a ton for everything---im glad you love the suggetsions!
November 17, 200322 yr >some real 737 drivers do it at night like this one.Randy,Most likely the pilot momentarily turned lights on to put aside a cup or find a pencil ... or to pose for this picture.Ask RR how pros fly 98% of time - in dark cockpits. Flood lights are only used very sporadically - they interfere with night vision. Therefore they are the exception rather than the rule.If something like that might be coming ... super. Better late than never !Michael J. Michael J.
November 17, 200322 yr Well I will not say just yet but you are welcome to guess ;). The ideal will-would be a varible lighting scheme....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 17, 200322 yr I would love to see a weather radar! We now have a very good weather system in FS9 and more than once i had to avoid CB's in the past. But with a weather radar onboard this would have been much easier then visually :) best regards,Matthias Hoheisel
November 17, 200322 yr Already in the works Matthias! Along with TCAS (not a fake eye candy type), the weather radar will depend on being able to accuratly reproducing it life like, if it cannot be done right, it won't be done at all ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. November 18, 200322 yr Hey Randy!Where is that plane landing, any idea? Because I noticed that they are using flaps 40. I though that Flaps 30 were better because of:> Noise Reduction> Better performance in case a GA is needed.I think those were the only ones...Maybe the RWY was short, SOP or captain dictated the use of Flaps 40.....who knows...Hoping I'm right,Bruno Francescoli.
November 18, 200322 yr I am not sure where it was at Bruno, yes my Virgin SOPS state that 30 are mostly used but 40 in certain cases like when a bit windy....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 18, 200322 yr Hi Randy,Why would you like to have a lower IAS if its windy?I though It was the opposite. Windy > Increase in IAS > Airplane more stableWith Regards,Bruno Francescoli.
November 18, 200322 yr In the real world, we turn the lights up when taxiing and on the ground. Lights come down when in flight. Oh, and WAY WAY DOWN when you're flying NVG's!!Joe G.
