Control tower idea

Recommended Posts

Guest

I posed this over a year ago and someone assured me it was in the works but I've never seen it. Would it be possible to create an aircraft model that was invisible but tall and skinny - like a control tower? The reasoning being one person in a multiplayer could be the "control tower". They could slew until the "aircraft" corresponded with the control tower and then they could look around from within the tower and control planes visually. It's sounding kind of crazy now that I'm trying to explain it. Maybe there is an easier way to accomplish the same thing.David

David,An "aircraft" can look like anything - like a control tower with the view in the cab. Then you just pan the view, looking around.I have trucks, tractors, cars, a 6-foot tall person to make sure doors are right on buildings, trees, birds, you name it. And they can all fly if I want (I should make a Vogon Constructor Fleet Ship or a brick and take it for a spin ;-)).

It's not quite the same, but look for something called "Viewpoint" it's actually a little bus with a very high cockpit and virtual cockpit view. Works great for checking out the A.I. aircraft.Lobaeux

a tad o/t but if MS would really be smart and want to make tons more money. they would come out with ms tower simulator using the same FS2002 graphics engine that would tie in online with other mp pilot players! now that would rock!ciao!Brian S

Exactly! But I guess the multiplayer would need to improve a bit. Whenever I use VATSIM it seems the other planes jump around a lot - kind of like moths. Also, I've never found a way to make them look like anything other than the plane I'm flying at the time. I've seen some pretty fast Cessna buzzing around!Regarding the double login - I don't understand why that would be necessary.David
