???Just wondering!!!

Recommended Posts

I do not *work* for PMDG but am involved more than the normal guy I suppose, I have donework for them and have things created on SU2 that you are using like the MCP. PMDG certainly do not have any issues with me answering question that I have knowledge about and or helping out where needed, this is not limited to me but any friends on this forum who have knowledge about things. So I am a very active beta team member who desires to help out on this forum ;) [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg

>Ross->One of the things that has been frustrating for us during the>past few days is being "armchair-admiraled" in the public>forum... To read the posts here- you'd think we simply opened>a hotmail account and went into business! ;-)I can imagine. I have been in similar positions in the past where everyone thinks they're an expert and repeatedly tells you so. It certainly gets hard to take after a bit. I sincerely hope my offers of assistance were not taken the wrong way ... I just saw that things weren't going as planned and wanted to offer my experience and resources as a possible quick way out of the woods.>Sometimes it seems that people forget that alot of planning>and work goes into such a release- just ask our beta>team...they were relatively heavily involved in much of it!And so far it looks like their efforts were very much worthwhile. Each day I look forward to getting home and doing another flight. :)>Ultimately- we decided that the latent capacity of our server>would not require a phased release- and we REALLY didn't want>to have to manage the friction that such a phased release>would ulimately create. (You KNOW we'd be second guessed for>starting on 01JUL as opposed to most recent date, you know?)Yeah, that's one thing I've had to learn also, from my own experiences with providing online services of any kind. Given more than a handful of customers, any service effort will drudge up at least a few people that aren't happy with your choice of methods. Can't please everyone ... so true.>So you can imagine our consternation when it became apparent>that the server was bogging down... After all, a number of IT>and electronic distribution specialists had reviewed our>system prior to the release and expressed only marginal>concerns... And our own experience with data transmission led>us to expect a smooth process..That is strange ... and a bummer. I'm sure you guys learned what you needed to learn to prevent it from happening the next time though, which is all we can expect as a customer community. :)>Ross: Thanks for your posts offering assistance, BTW...while>we couldn't accept many of the offers from the community for>many reasons- yours was certainly one that we entertained...That's nice to hear. Consider it an open-ended offer in case you run into more trouble. If we were to work together at all, it would be treated as a business relationship like any of my other clients, with the ability for me to be bound by contracts, NDAs, etc., even if no money were exchanged at all. However, judging by the many successful download reports that I'm seeing in the forums now, it looks like you've got it under control. Kudos for rising to the challenge!

Hello Randy!OK, I don't feel there's anything strange that you answer all kind of different technical questions about the product but I do think it's a bit strange sometimes when you answer questions of a bit more "political" nature. But I guess that's up to you and PMDG and I have no problem with it, just feels abit strange sometimes.Anyways, big thanks for all help you offer here in this forum! Speaking of that, was looking for the key combination to access the new wing views but haven't found them yet...and I'm pretty confident you know exactly what buttons to press ;-)?All the best,

Thanks alot! Just what I was looking for :-)Managed to download the update late yesterday evening CET and only had time to take a very quick look but was impressed by both the initial framrate and also the new sounds in the cockpit - very nice!! Really looking forward to give it another try when I get home today, petty that one has to be at work during daytime instead of at home playing - life truly is a #### ;-)One more quick question, have seen posts here where the filesize of the update seems to differ between some - how come is that? The file I downloaded is 71 102 746 bytes to be exact and looking at the version info for the file gives me Ver1.2 Build73 - is that the correct and most current file?Cheers,

Richard Åsberg

Yes that is the correct file name. The file is actually 67 MEGS zipped (Right click on the file and choose properties). KB shows in windows as 68,647 ZIPPED... Glad you are pleased, I am excited, I really enjoy being a part of this aircraft, this shows on the forum only because I love sharing my joy ;)See you soon! [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
