A Few SU2 Questions Answered

Recommended Posts

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS . Your answer might just be here :-)QUESTION: I notice that there are no cockpit sounds when switching to any few other than a forward view, is this a bug? ANSWER: No, it is not a bug. Because of the way FS handles these sounds a compromise was needed. We could of had the sounds in ALL views (including spot) or limit them to the forward 2D panels only (Fs does not allow any other choices other than these 2), the forward 2D panel option was chosen. You can LOWER or turn off the cockpit sounds if you desire from the PMDG OPTIONS MENU, in game hit ALT them PMDG/STYLES. The *ticking* you here is the stby altimeter, the other sound comes from the REC FAN, you can simply switch that to OFF from the overhead.QUESTION: I am having trouble arming the spoilers, what is the correct way to engage them. ANSWER: The spoiler logic is very much like the default aircraft. You can deploy and retract them with / or set them on the throttle quadrant. In the air, shift / should ARM for landing. QUESTION: Should I first remove the current installation before running the SU2 update? ANSWER: Yes. It is always a safer bet to start with a clean install. Please use the remover tool, you can download it here:http://www.precisionmanuals.com/downloads/...le=209&iType=18QUESTION: Where can I locate the needed SIDS and STARS? ANSWER: SIDS and STARS are included with the SU2 program, there is no need to download from anywhere. QUESTION: If I select my DEPARTURE AIRPORT into the FMC, it does not work, in fact I cannot see any airport data, what is wrong? ANSWER: You will need to download the NAVDATA file from here: http://www.navdata.at/ To be able to download the file you must first REGISTER (this is FREE). The file needs to go into the FMCWP folder in FS's main directory. If you do not have a FMCWP folder simply create one. The PATH should look like this:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FMCWPNAVDATA Make sure the files get into the NAVDATA folder and that no double folder get created. See SCREENSHOT attached.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53086.jpgQUESTION: Why does the MCP windows not match or fill the complete area around the MCP digits with the panel lights OFF? ANSWER: Two areas were fixed since the SU1 patch. It will show correctly in DAY and at NIGHT with the panel lights ON. Further work on the lighting scheme will be done in the 800-900 phase including back lighting for all lights (A/T ARM, F/D light etc) without the need to have the main panel light ON.QUESTION: Sometimes when loading the aircraft I notice that certain areas seem to be missing graphics like on the MCP and OVERHEAD , what should I do?ANSWER: You will need to recycle the panel lights ON and OFF (Push L). This will place them into memory and display correctly.QUESTION: How do I see the WING VIEWS? ANSWER: Using the 2D model (No VC) go into vc mode and pan to the view to your left rear or right rear. You will see the wingsORUsing the VC model in combination with Active Camera (Active Camera is available in the AVSIM file library) "walk" back to the cabin and look out the windows.QUESTION: Can we use pre-SU2 liveries on the SU2 Models?ANSWER: Yes, but you need to copy these four files from any one of the PMDG texture folders and drop into your repaint folders:decal_nnumberdecal_numberpmdg_pod_L.bmppmdg_pod_T.bmp[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Randy -Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this. It's much appreciated!I have a question for you...I noticed several times in your screenshots that your MCP digits are blue/white as seen in this a.net shot --> http://www.airliners.net/open.file/402148/M/I know this is an 800 series and optional per airline, but it looks super nice.Is there a way to change the color? Thanks!

You can change the DIGIT color only. This MCP is the HONEYWELL (the shot you show is the COLLINS) which only has orange digits, but it's nice to be able to change this to your liking. The background color cannot be changed.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg

You can deploy and retract them with>/ or set them on the throttle quadrant. In the air, >shift / should ARM for landing. >Unfortunately, at least in climb and cruise, "/" deploys but will not retract the spoilers. I'll check in descent. Also, the pressurization switch still has a "Main" selection instead of "Man" LOLOn a positive note, it's nice to see the FMC doing course intercepts properly, the airplane is definitely more frame-rate friendly thanks to the new textures, and the animated landing lights are TOOOOOO cool.

Hey Tim,To extend the spoilers just press /, but to retract them you need to spess Shirt + / twice. The first time arms them, the second time retracts them completely. I'm not sure bout that in SU2 (havn't got it yet;)), but thats the way it worked in SU1.1Cheers ;)Liam

Hello Tim I just want to thank you for the tip on Creative Sound Blaster Card. My sound card was on the same interupt as the vidio card. I kept getting this horrible feedback every 10-15 secs. I now have it on int req by itself and so far no buzzzzzing.Bill M

The MAN thing I thought got in but seems it got missplaced hehe. Tim, the spoiler logic is a limitaion too! It works pretty much like the default, this includes it sometimes not doing what it should! You can always bring up the throttle quadrant too. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg

Otherwise you have to use the throttle or use the shift-/ command.Or (and I think I might try this), assign an axis to the spoiler.
