CWS - not mentioned in the manuals??

Hi.I know the CWS is simulated in SU2, but the manuals does not describe how to use it. Missing pdf file in the dokumentation?Jan Roar R

A few points to keep in mind for CWS.1] If you are in CMD, with either a PICTH or ROLL mode engaged and apply PRESSURE to your control stick (yoke of joystick) the AFDS will revert to CWS pitch or roll depending on which direction you applied pressure (held forward or back for CWS P or left or right for ROLL).2] If you are CLIMBING or DESCENDING in CWS, it will CAPTURE the set MCP altitude live other active pitch modes.3] CWS has APLHA PROTECTION4] CWS is ihibited under a certain altitude.5] If you try to manually adjust your TRIM while in CWS, the A/P will disconnect.6] CWS is one heck of a way to fly this incredible bird![h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. From a Manual I have....Autopilot Control Wheel SteeringPaddle In CWS Or CWS Engage Switch SelectedPlacing an engage paddle to CWS or pushing a CWS engage switch engages theA/P pitch and roll axes in the CWS mode and displays CWS P and CWS R on theFMAs.With CWS engaged, the A/P maneuvers the aircraft in response to controlpressures applied by either pilot. The control pressure is similar to that requiredfor manual flight. When control pressure is released, the A/P holds existingattitude.If aileron pressure is released with 6 degrees or less bank, the A/P rolls thewings level and holds existing heading. This heading hold feature with bankless than 6 degrees is inhibited when any of the following conditions exists:

Some more info.If you are already autoflying (i.e. you have CMD A engaged and pitch and roll modes showing on the PFD), pressing CWS allows you to manually manuever the plane, but does NOT cancel the preset modes like LNAV/VNAV, so you can reselect CMD and resume your previous modes. This is great for dodging a cloud or another airplane or rolling for a better view.If you do NOT have the flight director engaged in any pitch or roll modes, the CWS mode will allow you to manuever to any pitch or bank angle. The airplane will maintain the pitch angles where you leave it, and will maintain the bank angle if it's more than six degrees. If less than six degrees the airplane will roll level and maintain level.VOR/LOC will engage (if armed) if you're CWSing and intercept the course.

Actually, CWS in CWS (not CMD) mode, will not care at all about what MCP selections you have made, whether pitch or roll, because you can't make any. It'll let you fly right through a selected altitude and stuff like that. It just holds the attitude, or, with less than 6 degrees bank angle it will roll level and maintain HEADING. So when you press the CWS switch, or override the autopilot manually in CMD, the CWS will engage, and the selected roll and/or pitch mode will disengage! The only difference when CMD is still selected, is that level-offs will cause the CWS pitch mode to go to CMD pitch mode and capture the altitude, and same holds true for your VOR/LOC interception, but ONLY when you have CMD selected!Iz
