Major joystick problems since new install

Recommended Posts

Am I supposed to be able to enter joystick data if the autopilot is on? With the old version of the 737, when I put the A/P on, it used to very nicely disable the ability of the joystick to effect changes on the aircraft heading & pitch. Now, with the new install, I can still control pitch & heading & try to overide the brain of the A/P. The problem is that the SLIGHTEST change with the joystick keeps disabling LNAV, VNAV, heading & altitude on the A/P. If I turn off the force feedback effects, the problem seems to be lessened, but i want to use the Force Feedback feeling on the joystick.Anyone know if this is a normal condition? Am I supposed to be able to try to overide the A/P - or is the joystick supposed to automatically be disabled when I turn on the A/P (LIKE IT USED TO DO in the old version of the 737). I am really confused right now. Anyone know what I shoud do next? The joystick is s SAITEK Cyborg 3D Joystick with the latest drivers. I already tried removing & reinstalling the 737. Again - no luck. Finally, I emphasize, I NEVER had this problem with the first release of the 737.Thanks for the help.Chris Catalano

I dont know the answer to your post as I am just getting familiar with SU2, but my joystick, MS sidewinder ff2, has the same symptoms as yours. In fact once I am in Auto flight I put the joystick well out of reach so I dont bump it and cause vnav or lnav to disconnect.I think it is meant to be like that but it takes a bit of time to get used to it.I also seem to have to set up more elevator "up" trim to ensure a decent take off than before, but that is probably just me being a hopeless pilot!Johnan
