PMDG737NG and Goflight

Recommended Posts

Guest dlps

Good morning all,I recently purchased and installed PMDG737NG into FS9.My question is, whilst most of my Goflight modules work with the PMDG737NG the Autopilot doesn't - neither does my MCP747 which is quite frustrating.Does anyone know if a fix is in the worksBTW I did a search on PMDG737NG+Goflight and it produced nothing so I assumed no one had raised this topic before.....Cheers......Doug

Hi,I was the one that asked the same question just before you. It's indeed disappointing and the problem is that the MCP will not work with any sophisticated panel (I've tried Dreamfleet and it has the same problem, and I suppose that Ariane won't do it either) We have to ask GoFlight - and I hope a lot will do - to make it possible the MCP to coop with all these products. Although I don't know anything about the technology behind it I presume that it can be solved by adjusting the software. Key functions can then be added to other push buttons for LNAV, VNAV, etc...I hope there will be a solution, otherwise we have to stick with the simple default panel.CheersRobert

Robert,I sympathise with your situation. I too bought the PMDG737 in July and my understanding was that PMDG were ACTIVELY working with Andrew Mclean at Aerosoft in developing a module for the 747MCP to talk to the PMDG autopilot. There is total silence on Aerosoft's website (repeated requests go unanswered) and I haven't seen much here either.I know Andrew sent Leferis a MCP some time ago which I would have thought would have been sufficient incentive for development work to continue. I appreciate there has been a huge effort to get SU2 out and it's appreciated. However, for all those that have invested a considerable amount of money in the 747MCP on the understanding that it would interface with the PMDG737 I think some announcement on how things are going is now due. After all this product has been out for 5 months now and it must have been known an interface was possible so what's causing the holdup? So how about it PMDG - please? Thanks,

Hi Ray,I wrote a similar post to Aerosoft. A good question to Lefteris would be,"is your 747MCP working with the 737NG?"Tom

I remember these type of discussions from other software releases such as Dreamfleet B737 and PSS B747. At that time, the argument of GoFlight and other independent companies/persons was the fact that these aircrafts were not 'open source' software. Besides from the fact that these software packages use different codings than FS2004 to get the autopilots working as they do, GoFlight and Aerosoft where not allowed to take a peak into the software to adjust their equipment. What is left of this discussion, taking this topic in consideration?

Ferry,What is left of this discussion, taking this topic in consideration?I never remember any announcements from DreamFleet or PSS about an interface with the Aerosoft MCP. PMDG stated back in July that an interface to the Aerosoft MCP WOULD be developed. Given that, I would expect them to keep us informed of developments. But this hasn't happened. Both PMDG and Aerosoft have not come out with any info on how development is going. This seems very unfair on those who have invested in a 747MCP. In fairness to PMDG they have never mentioned an interface to GoFlight hardware.Cheers,

At that time when PSS B747 was launched everybody was picking on PSS because it did not work properly with GoFlight and 747MCP. As it was stated, many people claimed it was because of the type of coding that was used. Since the launch of 747MCP I have waited to buy it, simply because it does not work properly with any of the software packages such as PSS, Dreamfleet and nowadays PMDG.Hopefully somebody who is very keen will code something similar like FSUIPC to make the 747MCP work with these aircrafts. Flying with the default aircrafts and the 747MCP is not as real as it gets is it? :-)

Ferry,I'm not sure just how much of your discussion is to do with the PMDG interface but if you want the Aerosoft 747MCP to interface with default Boeings or specialist aircraft such as the 767PIC and PMDG737 then consider Project Magenta software. That certainly will ... for a price. www.projectmagenta.comCheers,

I notice that the hardware boys are blaimed for not being compatible with PMDG. Two years ago the same discussion was going on and at that time software developers similar to PMDG were blaimed not being compatible with GoFlight and Aerosoft. So my question would be...who's right? Are the hardware boys not willing or able to adjust their interfaces or are the software developers not willing or able to adjust or build their interfaces?

Ferry,I notice that the hardware boys are blaimed for not being compatible with PMDG.I'm not blaming anyone - I'm just looking for answers as are several other interested parties. So my question would be...who's right? Are the hardware boys not willing or able to adjust their interfaces or are the software developers not willing or able to adjust or build their interfaces?I'm not interested in who's right or who isn't. I'm just looking for some information on progress as are many others I believe. What you have to remember is that PMDG made a statement that they were working on an interface to the 747MCP. There has been no further news on this development. I, along with others, are now requesting an update. I'm not looking to apportion blame.Regards,
