Question re

Okay, I know some of you folks also use a version of Fly! So my question is --- does MSFS02 have a comparable feature like the Vector Map in Fly!? The vector map is a window (usually set up to be transparent) which shows a moving icon representation of your plane (and any AI planes in the vicinity) and will also let you see where you are in relation to any airport or NAVAID in the vicinity. It's a really cool feature that I use a great deal in Fly!2I see that MSFS02 has a "map view" that gives you a graphical representation of your flight path after the fact, so to speak. But I don't see where it might have something close to the vector map idea.If it doesn't have something comparable to the Vector Map, I guess it's about time I learn to use the GPS! :-lol -Lindy :-rotor wannabe

Hi Lindy. The built-in GPS is the closest thing to what you describe in the base FS2002 product. Several developers have created add-ons, however, which come a lot closer to what you are looking for.I'd check out both FSFlightMax, which is a recreation of the real-world Avidyne FlightMax 850, and RealityXP Avionics stack, which recreates real-world radio systems (including an Apollo GPS, which is the piece most similar to what you describe).FlightMax is considerably less expensive, but its functional focus is a bit different from the avionics stack. Check out both and see if either of them are what you're looking for.FSFlightmax is at http://www.fsflightmax.com/RealityXP is at http://www.reality-xp.com/main.htmlNote, I am not affiliated with either group except as a happy customer of both products! :)--Tony

Lindy,There's two planner/map programs: Nav3 (free) if you have another monitor, as it doesn't run inside FS. It will display your aircraft and AI and mulyiplayer a/c; and FSNavigator 4 (not free) which is built into FS and has tons of useful features, but no AI display, although it will display multiplayer a/c.

....... for your answers. Guess I'll have to learn to get along w/o the Vector Map when i'm in FS02. (Of course, it isn't exactly realistic, but it sure is helpful! *smile*) Looks like I better start brushing up on my rusty VFR navigational skills. :-lol -Lindy :-rotor wannabe

Lindy,I think you'd be perfectly happy with FSNav. It's well worth it, really.
