1900 sound and autopilot question

Recommended Posts

I was very hopeful about the 1900 sound. It does have an awesome buzz and is very responsive to input, mirroring the gauges, but it seems to go to flight idle sound too early. On final, I reduce power, and advance the props for possible go around, and it just seems to be too low when targeting Vref, etc. Plus, there is no sound differences for prop rpm changes. One of the most wonderful sounds is putting a King Air into beta while taxiing to moderate speed. Or, advancing prop on final, which should theoretically slow the plane down a bit if the throttle is pulled back, due to increased drag. Don't get me wrong, my favorite plane has been created, and I love it. Also, even with YD engaged, the autopilot, which I assume is default FS9, seems to not pitch enough in turns, or LOC capture. It seems to waiver. I flew from KSMO to KPSP today, and could not even track the PSP VOR without some serious s-turns. Even the C172 should track a VOR course relatively smoothly with a one axis autopilot.IN FACT, THE FEELING THAT I GET IN THE 1900 IS THE SAME THAT I GET WHEN I FLY ONE OF THE LOCAL 172SP's WITH A SINGLE AXIS AUTOPILOT. BECAUSE YOUR RUDDER IS NOT CONTROLLED BY THE AUTOPILOT, THE PLANE SKIDS INTO TURNS, UNLESS THE RUDDER IS USED BY THE OPERATOR. EVEN WITH THE YD ENGAGED ON THE 1900, YOU GET THE SAME SENSATION.Thanks!ChristopherComm-ASEL-Instrument

Is there a possible service release for the autopilot as well as the sound issue: the lack of effect on the sound when props are increased/decreased into beta or feathered. Also, the sound coding allows the engine sound to be close to idle when the engine is still producing enough power to fly a 130 knot approach with full flaps and gear down on the glideslope? I got my PPL at KINT, the largest 1900 and Dash 8 maintenance and Bonanza/Baron sales facility in the US, and I don't remember a lot of idle engines on final. The gauges show enough power, and the airspeed is fine, but I think "idle" sound comes in too early. :)Thanks! Great product overall! Great framerates! Great visual models. One final thought. I am running 1600x1200x32, and I am getting blurry numbers and letters on the HSI. Yes, the sounds are even close to being real. Working for a major upper midwest regional airline that operates 14 beech 1900Ds kind of spoils me when the real sounds are in my head.
